:mad Booking for Internext? Check out the new Government Toll!

When you book this year look into the "Fees" after you book your hotel and air. Most people overlook these taxes and fees when booking, but I noticed something new. Something that stuck out.

In my invoice I see this:

"Included features and/or taxes (prices listed not reflected above): Quantity 2

Government-Imposed September 11th Security Fee
new as of 1/18 and PFC/Segment Fee 2 PFC/Tax 54.00 "

What the fuck is this?
It comes up when you book hotel and air to Vegas...

54.00??

What the fuck?

Its like a toll! A Toll to enter Vegas!
And yes this is ON TOP of the normal and regualr taxes that already exist!

Maybe the Government sees Vegas as a theme park, and is charging people theme park admissions to enter!

Damn!

I'm surprised that several of the more prominent Vegas properties haven't offered to comp. your entire trip.

And the Mirage properties ( Treasure Isand, Beligio, Mirage, MGM) dont want to give me shit anymore after the last time.

I had everything comped, even all the food i wanted. Ran up a huge bill, taking 3-4 people with me to dinner and breakfast often, and didnt play one dime in the casino. (i was too busy doing internext stuff)

They were a bit ticked.
Even with my prior history, I guess thats all history now!

So I dont really want to go back those places.
Any play I do, would be like paying off a debt of comps they gave me from the last time.

I need a fresh start.

Guys, it has nothing to do with Vegas. I just booked tickets from San Diego to Chicago. Ticket price was $220, final price was $270. A $50 taxes/security fee.

I know its bad, because when I call my Casino Host Patricia Sanchez at Tresure Island, a lady who used to hook me up with EVERTHING now gives me the cold sholder.

When I ask for a room they give me this SPECIAL rate that is MORE than the rate a normal person could get from booking online.

They are pissed.

My history there means dick to them it seems.
One bad time, and they tell me to fuck off..

Fuck em.

When I priced to book it came up as this too!

But in the description to this tax, it says its a new effective tax that is a 9-11 security fee?

If you booked on orbitz or on a online booking that does hotel, the first price includes the standard taxes already. This is an additional fee

It doesnt have to do with Vegas I am seeing.

It seems to be another airline fee.

Government-Imposed September 11th Security Fee
new as of 1/18 and PFC/Segment Fee 2 PFC/Tax 54.00

And this in addition to the tax on the hotel and some other airline fees. (seems to be in addition to the normal taxes)

What "fees" come up when you book JUST air, and not hotel?

Is the only tax coming up on the fair this securtiy fee?

Then what the hell is this?
Maybe its brand new? Or maybe its just Vegas?

Yeah it caught my attention also since I do travel A LOT to Vegas and abroad, and I never noticed this fee before.

Yeah this is really an outrage... I think ultimately the government wants travel to be cost prohibitive for ALL POOR PEOPLE... They don't want the poor to be traveling around -- hence the invention of TOLLs on roads that used to be fucking free (like I-95)... Think about that movie Bowling for Columbine -- you keep the poor people trapped in their hood -- then they will continue to work hard because they have no choice. They won't be able to move to the next new community that has a lot of hope and employment... No, those communities are reserved for the wealthy and priveledged...

Sooner or later they will crack down on hobos, hitchhiking and all that shit and you will have a fucking metal detector fucking implant tracked by satellite before they're fucking finished... of course by then we will all revolt and there will be a bloody mess and they will send rockets to the moon and astronomy will never be the same as we fall into the sun.

You ever think of getting hooked on Heroin Fly? Your mind is moving a bit too fast for your own good buddy! You need something a little stronger than cheeba for that twin turbo thing in your skull

Anythings a possibility now though.

No, you just didn't pay attention. Take a look at the very bottom of your flight information. The price at the top makes it seems as though there is no additional tax, but when you look at the breakdown, there it is...another $50 odd worth of government pork built right in.

This trip booked on orbitz:

fare type cost per person subtotal
1 Web Only base airfare $292.14 $292.14
tax $60.41 $60.41
service fee $5.00

total trip cost $357.55

Haha, you guys are funny. I dunno Ludedude, I just looked at my reciepts. Neither has any more than $40 worth of taxes added which has always been the normal amount really.

One was $286 round trip and came to $320 after the $5 Orbitz fee.

Hey man, I booked a oneway flight in Canada here for $104 plus fees and taxes. It came out to $176.50 or so. Those fees seem high on those cheap flights especially.

This might shed some light on this subject:

http://www.americawest.com/services/...ecurityfee.htm

and also a littel tid bit here:

http://www.travelzoo.com/Info.htm

Funny thing is that it says the following:
"September 11th Security Fee: A September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 USD applies per flight segment (maximum charge per trip--$5.00 USD one-way, $10.00 USD round-trip). A flight segment is defined as one takeoff and one landing."

So, if you guys are paying $50 +/-...me thinks ya'll getting the shaft...
