he's insecure in that area and to him you found out how stupid he is.
It meant nothing to you at the time because you are secure enough to not even
think about that if it was the reverse.

If you look at this guy and think, "gee he does well already, so why fuck with me?"
Then that's the clear sign of what I just described.

The guy actually likes you and admires you but he can't get over his own insecurities
