Cold turkey. Just stop smoking and get into the gym to do cardio. Pump some clean o2 through those lungs.

Somebody mentioned Chantix so I googled for it. Seems there are side effects that the pharma fails to mention. Be careful with meds, always check them out before taking.

            http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/archi...of_chantix.php

I have been taking Chantix for 15 days. My symptoms started immediatly. The first week it was mainly the nausea, weird dreams, weakness, and the headaches and constipation. The headaches are more like migraines. Towards the end of the first week is when the mood swings and depression started. It has just gotten worse.

I am usually not this way, but I scream and yell a lot. I can't stand to be around my children. Which is so not normal. I love my children. My husband says that I have turned into one of those crazy chicks. I usually talk to my best friend at least once a day and now I don't even answer her phone calls.

I do not want to be around anyone or talk to anyone. It is nothing for me to lock myself in my bedroom and just cry.

I have not had a cig since my quit date. (day 8) I still want one. I thought that maybe the side effects would go away but now I am starting to think not. I am scared to just stop taking the medication. I am going to the doctor this week.

2 years ago I quit cold turkey. I did not have a cig for 7 months. The withdrawals then were not near as bad as what I am going through right now. I am just going to pray that I will not have any long lasting effects. After going through what I am going through- I would not suggest this medication to anyone. If you really want to quit, go cold turkey.

hold on to a cigarette but don't light it, just keep playing with it and taking smokeless drags off of it until it falls apart finally, it is easy to resist the lighting of it part and that will give you some of the tactile feedback anyways.... other than that I found sunflower seeds were a big help, keep you busy with the nervous habit of it

Cold turkey here too. I was a 2 pack a day smoker.

Excercise helps for sure. Also chewed a lot of gum the first 2-3 weeks to help break the habit so when I was craving a cig in the morning or after a meal I'd chew gum instead.

                    Good luck!

Since you guys quit....ever notice how bad smokers smell? It's different than smelling cig smoke. The smokers body metabolizing the cigarette smoke creates a distinct odor that a smoker can't smell.

Can I ask you about this, which is what I worry about the most:

If I quit - WTF will I do instead? I cant sit around eating carrots/sucking on pencils all day?

I would greatly appreciate some good advice on this..

                                Here is a tip...
When you get a crave for a smokey treat, look at the clock. If you really want a smoke, you can have one in 20 mins. The urge to have a smoke will pass in a few minutes and you will forget about it until the next urge, then just repeat the 20 min. game. After you make it thru the first day you have 24 hrs smoke free under your belt and you don't want to throw that hard work away so just keep going. Nicotine is gone from your bloodstream after 72 hours. All that is left is what is stuck in your tissue, and the physiological factor. Exercise and plenty of water will help flush it away and keep you feeling good about quitting.
ChupaChups - Sunflower seeds will help with the oral fixation.

I started feeling chest pains which turned out to be a symptom of bad acid reflux, but at the time it scared the shit out of me and made me quit cold turkey. It was a curse and a blessing.

Good luck in your efforts to quit, it'll be one of the best life changes you'll ever make.

First I read everything on http://whyquit.com... to understand how the addiction worked.
I walked away from all responsibility, went to stay with someone who never pissed me off. I sat in a chair for 4 days watching TV. I had a bag of suckers to keep my blood sugar level steady.

The only thing I required of myself for those 4 days was to not smoke.

I haven't taken any kind of nicotine into my system in a year and a half.

                                            smoking= bladder cancer

                                            bladder cancer=spreading to your penis

cancer in the penis= cutting it compltely off

so if you value your penis quit smoking.

I've been trying for a long time to quit..

I've tried so many fucking times.. but, GODDAMN it's difficult for me.. After several hours my eyes feel glossy and moist and I feel like my fucking head's gonna explode..

I get irritable and cranky and restless... I WANT to quit.. I make plans to quit.. I wake up every day saying today is the day.. yet it never fails that someone pisses me the fuck off and I light up.. (It's 99.99% of the time my wife, lol..)

I just decided I was done and that was it.

I would suggest starting your quiting when you wake up and preferably after you have slept in.

When I did quit I did not force everyone around me who smoked to stay away or not smoke near me. I did not expect the world to conform to me and knew that I would eventually be around smokers no matter what. I did make my vehicle and house smoke free but that was about it.
Though I also do not have such prickish friends that would blow smoke in my face or some shit. Honestly if one of them did it after I told them, I would be pretty sure we were not friends anyways or at very least they are not mature enough to be around.

Smoked a pack a day for 10 years and quit about 7 months ago by going cold turkey. Basically Friday through Sunday i stayed in bed or on the couch till the cravings went away and I avoided all things stressful. I had movies to watch, food already in the fridge, didn't look at work, etc. I got the feeling that when i was lying down the cravings weren't as bad.

I did the same, I even took it a step further and purposely went out to bars and places where I knew there would be lots of smokers around, kind of like I looked at the addiction as a challenge to myself and putting myself in the most likely to smoke places made the challenge that much more focusable on.

I knew if I could not smoke in those situations that the rest would be easy.

The most important thing is you have to REALLY want to quit. Otherwise your mind with over rule any attempt to quit otherwise.

I was over 3 packs a day and went cold turkey. I was finally ready and have not smoked in 3 months. i subsitute with lolipops and gum, after a while its not prt of your thought process anymore.

I finally got my life back

Most hardcore chain smokers quit by dying. That would be the easiest way to quit. However, if you'd like to quit some other way, then I suggest not buying cigarettes. Also, for every cigarette you bum off a friend and smoke, you must cut your forearm with a knife. It will hurt and leave a scar each time, but eventually, this type of negative reinforcement will cause you to quit smoking.

I use and recommend Webair for hosting.

So far, I'm doing 10x better but not fully done smoking yet. I've got a full box of nicorette in front of me but like I said, it's still full and has been for months now. Right now the best thing working for me is Camel Snus and occasional dip. Its not much but gets my mind off of cigarettes long enough to forget the craving. I'm probably down to 3-5 cigarettes a day from my usual pack or so a day.

The first thing to do is understand that no one "wants" to smoke.
Nicotine has a 30 minute half life.
The ONLY reason it ever "feels good" is because it stops the withdrawl you're PERPETUALLY EXPERIENCING AS A SMOKER. If you're not one, you don't have to smoke to have the good feeling of stopping withdrawl because it's not there.

Another thing is to not over-eat. Smoking makes your body realease blood sugar FAST. You have to get use to food taking 20 minutes to do it. Eat properly, feel hungry, but then wait twenty minutes without eating more, and you'll feel full.

Cravings - they last an average of THREE MINUTES. Withdrawl causes TIME DISTORTION where three minutes seems like hours. Stay busy for three minutes and make them seem like three minutes.

Allen Carr teaches us that withdrawl is only so SCARY and DIFFICULT because we're all taught that it is. When you realise that it's NOT PAINFUL and NOT SO BAD then you can feel what it is: Not so god damned bad.

Watch people smoking. You will see that they do not look happy.
But it is so enjoyable... right?

You MAY feel like you're losing a friend ( as if someone has died ) .. but that passes very quickly.

DO THE WITHDRAWL HARD AND FAST:
EAT VITAMIN C, DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE TO ELEVATE BLOOD SUGAR AND CURB FOOD CRAVINGS
The C will make your body excrete nicotine very quickly and withdrawl will be hard and fast. Sleep through it with a sleep aid if you have to.

Without smoking you can fuck with a harder cock and cum alot more often.
You can SMELL things you hadn't been able to since you were a kid.

Me I can smell pussy better.. it took me back to being seven and smelling my first pussy. It was my teachers pussy at school she bent over and I buried my nose in her crack. I was curious! The good old days.

Wasn't bad at all, I think I prepared my mind long enough for the fact that somoking would no longer be an option after that date.

Sunday come and in all honesty I had the one cig I had left in my box in the morning... then I put my nicotene patch on. I actually went to a BBQ that day and the urge to smoke was strong after a beer. I resisted.

When I went back to work I still went outside with my colleague when he was having a cig but just had a chat with him and didn't smoke. Some of my workmates said I'd smoke again especially those that had failed to give up themselves. I said I wasn't a backslider like them and I had given up.

I still went to the pub also in the evenings and saw it as a personal challenge to be able to go without smoking. At that time smoking was still allowed in pubs. That changed a few weeks later when you could no longer smoke in UK pubs and the smokers went outside to have a fag.

It was about 8 weeks later, still using the patches that I went on holiday to Thailand. The 1st day it had got to about 6 in the evening and I realised I hadn't put the patch on. I rushed back to my hotel to put it on and it made me dizzy.
I forgot the next day and again put the patch on in the evening. I guess I was that far removed from my daily routine that I forgot again.
The next day I remembered, but figured I didn't need to patch anymore.

I've been nicotene free from then.
