RIP Dravyk!

Nice guy- I had so much fun with him in Jamaica for the first couple of Webmaster trips!
Drav always had some kind words for me anytime I would see him.

He and Electra are old schoolers for sure.

Harry will be missed.

That's terrible, he was so young. A lesson to us all to do our best to take care of ourselves, particularly our heart.

Condolences.

Harry, my friend, i knew you had problems with your heart; but you were such a fighter, in every sense of the word, that i thought you'd beat even this.

you will continue to be a presence even now that you are laughing at us from up there.

much love to you, harry. you were a true human being, with no artifice......there wasn't a debate you didn't love.

molly...i know there are no words, other than we send our love and compassion for such a loss.

The number of truly *good* people in our industry just fell.
Molly, my thoughts and prayers are with you, you two were a perfect team and I can't imagine the heartbreak.
And the world is a sadder and emptier place today.
RIP Harry.

Definitely one of the nicest guys in our biz. He was around since the beginning. I haven't been in touch in recent years, had no idea about his heart.

RIP

I think I have a bunch of old videos of him in my D$ Show. So sad to learn this.

My deepest condolences to his family and close friends.

Harry was one of my best friends. He was a good, caring, compassionate human being. He was loyal and honest which are two very rare qualities in this day and age. He and Electra were/are excellent members of the webmaster community. They're also very good people.

He was only 48.

Elektra's post from yesterday at np:

Quote:
I want to thank everyone who have posted their condolences and said such nice things about Harry. It has been a comfort to me to know how well thought of and admired Harry was. I have passed on all your kind thoughts to his family. In due course I will collect the posts from all the boards and put them together in some form of e-book as a rememberence I can keep always.

There is to be a double memorial service at the funeral home where his mother is awaiting her burial this coming Wednesday. After that Harry is to be cremated in a private ceremony and his ashes will be scattered in a place yet to be determined. As you can imagine his family are devasted by this double blow and are doing their best to cope with all the arrangements.

I have to believe that Harry is now in a better place where all of the pain he suffered these past few years due to his heart ailment no longer exists and he is finally free of all the stress in his life. Some time ago we both made a pact that if anything happened to either of us we would take each others cats. We never dreamed this would happen so soon. Yesterday I brought home his beloved cat Tara and she is now currently making herself at home and chasing my cat Casey all over my apartment. It is amusing to watch since my cat is a huge male and Tara is a little slip of a female.

On the practical side, Harry WAS Dirty Gloves, Inc. He was the innovator, the ideas man and the brains. I am more of a detail person and someone who can carry out the ideas in a practical way. With that in mind I appreciate the posts of people who have offered help if I need it. I may have to call on those people for some assistance as I learn the technical side of things that Harry always took care of. Hopefully I will be able to get access to Harry's computers and sort out some things. I also have his cell phone so those of you who called Harry on that and who might need anything from me can still contact until the end of the month.

There's really nothing left to add except rest in peace Harry, I hope somehow you know how much you were loved and admired by so many good people in the Industry you chose to work in the all too short time you were here.

I just wanted to thank everybody on GFY who have posted their condolences and kind words.

As you can imagine his family is devastated. Harry was the best thing in my life and this is
going to be difficult to deal with for a while.

Funeral arrangements have already been posted here so I wont repeat those.

I like to think that somehow he is aware of your outpouring of affection and admiration. It's a great comfort to know how well thought of he was by the people of this industry.

I just wanted to say now a bit after the initial shock has worn off, that my heart is broken.

For the past few years, everytime I've gone up to Philly during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Harry and I would always plan to meet up, and for whatever reason, never get too. Frantic phone calls from both of us explaining why each of us couldn't make it, and the subsequent call of "Asshole Flake" would be expelled. All in good nature, both of us saying, "Next Year".

Now I won't get that chance.

I can't even begin to explain how much we as an industry has lost, with the passing of our Industry's first Chronicler. The first man to put our fledgeling's industry happening in print in the CONDOM CHRONICLES, and latter in the NETPOND CHRONICLES, for every webmaster, from heavyweights of the time Fantasyman, The General, WebFather, RB, JoeE, JB, and down to the newest rank newbie. With Harry's passing, all that knowledge of our early days, the history of our short lived industry, everything that made us what we are today, disappears forever. Harry wrote history down as he saw it, and in doing so, will always be remembered by me and others as an important part of it.

I will miss Harry's nasal newscaster way of speaking with that hint of Philly ready to bust out if we talked sports. Everyone has already said what a great guy he was, no need to say it again. But if Harry was anything, he was a straight shooter and a bit of teasing prick. I remembered when we sold Netpond, Harry asked me, "How does it feel not to be an internet celebrity anymore?" which I always responded "Fuck You".

I will miss you buddy. I hope that +3 Vorpal is chopping off some Hill Giant head up there, and your 20 always rolls with multipliers every time!

Rest in peace Dravyk. We will miss you. Goddamn, gonna miss you Bro.

Very well put.

The Chronicles made a lot of people "household names" in this business. People who weren't around for it will never understand what an impact it had. Remember the bot test on the counters? There was an article by a tax accountant and numerous other types of articles. This was before the era of 5000 webmaster boards. He brought that all about.

All Of 'Em: A tvguide of sorts for the boards, webmaster radio shows, etc. It was something different and unique.

He left an indelible stamp on this industry. Not all of his projects took off, but he was always trying to come up with something new, always some new B2B app or resource site.

I had the pleasure of not only writing for and eventually taking over the Chronicles, but I did some writing for him when he launched Mainstream Webmasters and he was always wonderful to deal with, even though, like my time with the Chronicles, I was there about 30 minutes before deadline writing my article

If he was the biggest dick in the world, his contributions would have still been good, but the fact he was also a great guy who loved a good burn, even if it was at his own expense, always made it that much more worthwhile when he had a project that caught fire.

I remember writing a Sykk Thoughts column in which I went after some sacred cows and he didn't even flinch at the article and never even hinted at censoring it.

The "stand up" guy thing gets thrown around a lot, but he truly was THAT guy.
