Canada wins in a shoot out. Sweeeeeeeeet.

Bet that Russian player who went for the empty net and caused an icing with 40 seconds left feels like a big jack ass right now.

Two Awesome games in a row. I love the World Juniors. The Game against the USA was dynamite and this one was as amazing. Can't wait to see the Gold Medal game on Monday!

That was just an amazing game.

Big props to the Russian players, that was easily anyone's game right down to the very end. Yeah, that icing was deadly too. All it took in such a fantastic game was just a few little things to tip the balance.

Junior hockey is just so damned entertaining to watch.

I didn't get lucky. I don't play for team Canada and I'm not all crazy patriotic. Sure Team Canada got a few breaks, but like I said, in a really close game that's often the difference.

What a rally from the loss to Sweden though for team Russia.

you just got lucky. lets leave it there, ok. If it wasn't for missed empty neter (stupid mother fucker should have skated to center ice and sot the puck than), you would have been toast. Russia played way better hockey today despite being underdog.

Come on now, way better?

They were out shot, and they got dominated in the shoot out. That's not way better.

Outshot? wow, thats like +/- shit.. shoot out is a fucking lottery. Kid, how many games have you seen where the team won in shootout did not deserve to win.
You had home crowed and all the hype. Russia came as big time underdog and outmuscled you on D and offense. Tovares was zero factor in the game. Zeeeeeeeero....

I know you're crazy patriotic and all, but just look at it subjectively for a second. Stop talking about it in terms of you and me, neither of us play Junior hockey we're just fans. Step back a bit.

When you you lose a game 5-4, "way better" is just not a good way to describe it.

Shootout is not like a lottery. In a lottery, if you sell 6 tickets, every ticket holder has a 1-6 chance of winning. There's no skill involved.

When Sweden beat Russian 5-0, they played "way better".

you do NOT want to compare skill of Russian hockey and Canadian hockey. Even retard Pierre Mcguire know better than that.

Which country's junior team won in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and is poised to do it again in 2009? Just remind me.

How many Russian players come to Canada to play in the Canadian junior hockey system? How many Canadians go to Russia to play junior hockey? Any idea why that's so one sided?

The 2007 Super Series (Russian: Суперсерия 2007; French: 2007 Super Série) was an eight-game Under-20 ice hockey challenge between Russia and Canada. The series was won by Canada, who shocked the Russians with seven wins and one tie (there was no overtime in this series). Over the course of the eight games, Canada outscored Russia 39-13. The Series was held from August 27 to September 9 in various venues in both countries. The event commemorated the 35th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series between the USSR and Canada.

Now if you had have said Canada and Russia are very closely matched in Hockey, I would have agreed with you. But instead you say you've perfected it? Doesn't look like that's the case. Just sayin'

When's the last time you have to go back to find a Canadian Olympic gold medal in hockey? 2002.

Russian? Well they've never won one but the last USSR win would be 1988.

Perfection indeed!

1. That would be Canada. before that Russia dominated JR hockey. Right now russian hockey is having its worst crop of it time because of what happened in early 90’s after break up of the soviet union. Two thirds of all junior tournaments are played in Canada, so you see how it unfolds…
2. Not many Russian players come to Canada. You’re thinking of Czech, Slovak players. Very few do.
3. Selects is nothing but show for Canadian markets. 4 players from that team were on this roster.
4. Canada and Russia are closely matched. But not in skills department.

Just sayin'

You're not really making a case for having perfected hockey. Seems like you bit off a little more than you can chew.

Well those are just the ones that played in this tournament.

I'd guess that's 7 more than went to Russia, anyway.

You see sonny, the difference between me and you is that I don’t have to google any of that stuff. I know it by heart. Russia has been the only team that went in to semi finals in every Olympic Game for the past 20 years.

You're just cherry picking stats to back up a wild claim you made that Russians perfected hockey.

Clearly they didn't, because they're not and have not been dominating hockey. Perfection requires that.

I'm not the one who has to tuck away national pride. Whenever Russia is brought up in anything you go on and on about how it's the greatest at everything.

I actually don't think Canadian hockey players or Russian hockey players are better. I think they've both produced dominating teams as well as lack luster teams. They've had great battles against each other both winning some and both losing some.

I also think that right now Canada has a much better junior hockey system. The evidence for this is all kinds of European players coming to Canada to play junior hockey. This is not because Canadians are better than Russians, it's just the way things are, for now.

So you can rant and rave about how you've perfected a sport you haven't been dominating in but the rest of us can step back and say they're both pretty good hockey countries.

I was just poking at you as far as domination. Just healthy argument. Better than talking to idiot pussyserver. I’m watching some lame horror movie right now that my wife picked. I hate horror flicks.

As far as junior hockey goes you’re 100% wrong. Most euros come from Czech, Slovak, germany. Thats because their sports system is in shambles. Russia however has second best league in the world. Most junior players get on pro teams and get a lot of exposure. NHL domination is almost nonexistent unless you’re Malkin/Ovechkin level. All that crap about coming to N. America is BS at this point. More and more players opt out to play in KHL unless they get fat one-way contract in the NHL. Look up Alex Semins history.. That’s how it is bro..

Canada got most of its medals before 50s, playing such hard teams as Great Britain and Switzerland. They were shut off for like 40 years for gold against USSR
