Just picked up one for myself the other week. I went with the Panasonic because it had the home theater system built into it since my last home theater system fucked up on me. But yeah man, Sonys are awesome and I think it would be a good choice for you.

Just get a piss 3, and you can play some top quality piss3 release only games too. To be honest though, in 11 months of having a PS3, I have watched zero bluray movies.
