I have a MUTHA FUCKA of a virus on my computer right now - HELP!!!

My other machine has been hit.

It started with slowing performance and then ALL of the search results from ALL engines redirect to an anti-virus site.

I was able to run ONLY Zone Alarm and it found a Keylogger.

It can not find any other spyware or viruses.

Now... if I download or install any other spy seeker or virus protection, it crashes the program.

ALL virus protection sites are blocked by this virus. I can not view any sites that can help me fix the problem.

Also... it will not allow me to roll back the system.

Any ideas?

try to go to bitdefender.com, trend micro housecall... try safe mode with network and download some virus soft.. go to task manager - shut down every fucking process you cant recognize...

And - next time - use "Acronis" and create a disk image.

Get Hirems BootCD, boot from that and run a couple system scans... or try starting up from Norton or McAffee recover disk.

Had this one too. It is a fucker. It was blocking my windows update and crashing when I was running lavasoft adware. Used spybot search and destroy, spyware doctor, then the lavasoft adware. That fixed it.

The true solution when your system gets infected is a clean reinstall... I rarely found anti-virus software doing the job as is supposed to. Anti-virus is good to prevent viruses entering your system by themselves, not when you click on them. The cleaning you usually get is a temporary one...

My sis-in-law had something like what you're experiencing. Wouldn't let me download or do much of anything else so I put Spybot search and destroy on a flash drive and ran that first.

That fixed the "prevention" stuff so I could then download the good stuff to finish cleaning it out.

I had that same thing. It was a few strains of the virtumonde. It was a bitch to get rid of.

I tried all kinds of programs to get rid of it. S&D would find it, but could not seem to get rid of it. I had the restoral turned off. Ran in regular and safe mode. Always found it, but could not get rid of it.

I tried NOD32, S&D, adaware, SmiFraudFix, HiJack This, and countless other programs. It had me busy for an afternoon.

In the end, M$'s removal tool, or whatever it is that you have on your PC now. That removed it first (ran twice). I then ran some program called, registry cleaner, and that worked (ran twice). Lastly ran S&D and that removed it what was left. Ran it a second time to be sure. All gone.

Turned restore back on.

got the same shit twice last month. Dowload Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (giving you 3 locations):
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes...-10804572.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html
http://projects.securitywonks.net/pr...s.php?file=158

download, install, unplug from the Net, reboot in safe mode and run the scan from there

if you need more detailed info:
http://www.lotsageeks.com/how-to-rem...rus-xp-2008-2/

all the best, this is a really tough one, it could take up tp a few hours to get rid of it
Once you clean your PC install that patch for the Adobe pdf reader (this is how I got it)

good suggestion if it will even allow you to run malwarebytes, I've seen instances of where it crashed that out too (on purpose)

It sounds like a hijack. This is one of the main reasons I hate Windows, because you can just be browsing along and going to some website and bam, you're infected... Without any knowledge whatsoever that something is being downloaded AND executed to your computer.

This is the main reason I went to Mac. Sure, Mac *can* have viruses, but the chances of you being infected to the point where your system requires 3rd party software to "fix it" is very slim to none. That's all based on how the OS was designed in the first place. Like anything, if you give a software permission to run as root, yes, it can attack your kerenl and system files. But with Windows, it permission is irrelevant, it just allows it

DWB, you may be able to just check your hosts file under system32 and remove any entires the virus might have put in place. That might get you back up and running.

Good luck man

The quick answer is to reformat. Hopefuly you have everything backed up.

I back up my files every morning before I go to bed on an external drive. I've had a few nasty viruses since then, but never lost a thing.

I also saw someone mention it: Spy Bot Search and Destroy. Google it, its free and it kicks ass. Also see about AVG free. I had the two of them installed on my sister in laws' kids pc. It cut down on my having to constantly work on fixing that pc. Good luck, dwb

no need to reformat...

1. Load your Windows in safe mode (push F8 several times immediately after reboot)
2. Try to install the Spybot/Adaware any other good antispyware and then remove the virus.

Just reinstall, you don't want to fuck with keyloggers,or trojans. Cause it could send anything you type over the web, your codes, pass.....
Just reinstall, it's the best!
I fucked up my comp 2 weeks ago with some new trojan, i manage to deleted with nod32, but i reinstall my win anyway. So do the same and do a back up !

Your not going to be able to download anything to fix it. Your gonna need the cd-rom of norton anti-virus. When you try to download the virus will not let you.

Man... what a mofo.

I'm wiping it now.

NOTHING worked. It would not allow any programs to boot from a flash drive, CD or the hard drive. Not allow any anti-virus sites to load in my browsers and no online scans. Wow.

So I have 20 mins left of the wipe. I hope this puts an end to this nasty fucker.

I'm pretty sure I just got the AIDS of the computer virus world.

This is the main reason I went to Mac. Sure, Mac *can* have viruses, but the chances of you being infected to the point where your system requires 3rd party software to "fix it" is very slim to none. That's all based on how the OS was designed in the first place.

Apple tells users get a mac antivirus program.

While PCs still greatly outnumber Macs, there are now many more Macs, and that spells trouble for Mac security. This growing problem is exacerbated by Apple's poor patching as was demonstrated at a recent hacker convention, in which an Apple machine was easily compromised a full day before Linux and Windows machines could be.

Now Apple has recognized this new problem and for the first time is recommending its users install antivirus software.
