What area in this Industry remains stable and profitable?

People are pissed at ratios what with the tubes, billing practises, global recession and so on.

What work in adult (for example content providers, production, designing, programming or whatever) do you feel continues to thrive?

I might be called biased BUT dating and cams are positively thriving.

I've been a Dating Gold affiliate since 2004 (I now also work FOR dg) and I'm one of our top promoters. This year things have never been better for me. The truth is sex will always sell. You can't give sex away for free on tube sites in the form of actual sex or simulated sex on cam. So it really doesn't affect dating or cams. If you want to chat more, feel free to hit me up to talk some biz.

could you please explain why being one of Dating Gold's top earners, you still decided to work a job for them?
I'd imagine that being one of the top promoters of an established dating program pays way more than being a sales rep.

anyway, not my biz, just a genuine question

I don't mind answering. It's a good question!

My affiliate business operates pretty smoothly, thanks to help from my wife and other people who work for me. I could take a vacation for a few years with a laptop and business would run nice enough. But vacations are not for me; I like to work and grow. I'm always on the lookout for new business opportunities. And I don't limit myself to dating and cams. I do a huge amount of work in mainstream and it's growing every year.

I was asked this year by DG to join the team. I gave it some serious thought and came to a few conclusions.

Dating Gold is, in my opinion, the best affiliate program online. Becoming a sales rep gives me the opportunity to derive income from a new revenue stream and an opportunity, now that I have my foot in the door, to grow within a growing organization. Not only that but it represents a chance for me to network within the industry and develop friendships as well as learn more about the business; I know a lot about being an affiliate but I have a lot to learn when it comes to the other side.

So, to answer your question succinctly, I did it for money, career-advancement, and opportunities to network and learn more.

This is my opinion and, really, only a theory. I'm also going to use an analogy... selling porn online is like the gold rush of the wild west. There were people who spent all day mining for gold and then there were those who sold the shovels.

In porn, I would "think" that being able to offer people the "tools" so they can dig for gold would get you the most mileage. People running pay sites are digging for gold and those designing them are selling the shovels. The same goes for those programming scripts, shooting content, etc... they're selling the tools so the rest can mine for gold.

So, even though the people selling the tools don't have it on easy street... my opinion is that as long as there's any hope for internet gold, the people able to sell the dreamers the tools they need will thrive.

Hosting providers who specialise in dirt cheap bandwidth for some of the huge traffic sites...I would say this service must be in demand currently however the very very cheap rates being offered nowadays does makes me wonder how this type of business model can be profitable when I see so many now offering numbers such as $4 per Mbps?

Start a Free Cam Site, all live shows with chat like club17live used to do well. Now make that free for privates everything!

Then sell non porn products.

Any other questions?

I'm not sure if people would readily share this information considering the siege mentality that a shrinking income pool generates.

bitching, bragging and trolling is a pretty stable part in online

Unfortunately, not too profitable.

Excellent analogy PornAddict, but lately even 'shovel' sales are way down for us tool sellers.

Not so long ago I'd say that Cams/Dating is something that will never get replaced by something free.

Now I look at the free cam sites where girls WANT people to see them naked and ask myself - srslywtf?

Tube sites killed the paysite model.

Free community cam sites will kill the camsite model.

And now I'm seeing more and more smaller adult social sites pop up. Most get revenues from premium sms services, like get your whorish profile on the main page for $1. Not sure if this is a threat to the dating model. But if a major player in the mainstream social networking biz launches an adult section on their site (for example, visible only to singles over 18), the business as we know it might change a bit too drastically.
