Server Questions

Can someone tell me which processor is faster?

Core2Quad Q6600 QUAD CORE 2.4GHZ 1066FSB
or
CPU: Dual Xeon? 3.06GHZ 533FSB 2CPU & HYPERTHREADING

I'm getting a server and both cost the same with the same configuration (memory, disk space, etc). Is any one better than the other??

Thanks.

It depends on the Dual Xeon, all your giving me is that its a old generation 3.0 with hyper threading which was pre dual core or quad core.

If that is the case then the Quad Core would be extremely faster with our without the FSB, now if the Xeons are the new generation and have 2 cores each not hyperthreading then the xeons would be the way to go.

Thanks for the reply, I would have to check if it is a old or new generation Xeon. What hyperthreading do btw?

Hyperthreading is like hardware based multitasking, it presents two virtual cores to the OS when there's only a single physical core. (Or 4 virtual, 2 physical etc)
