#7 Texas Tech vs. #1 Texas WOW
This game was awesome...
Texas Tech wins on a last second touchdown pass and the fans stormed the field twice and tore down the goal posts before the game ended ![]() ![]() ![]()

It really is a disadvantage being #1. Your on every teams radar. I would rather lose a game early in the season then crawl up the rankings. |

Penn State is good, but the big 10 doesn't have a lot of competition, especially this year.

Is has a ton to do with it. Teams that have been idle have been leapfrogged by teams ranked below them that have played and racked up an impressive win, be it against a ranked team or by a high point margin. It's bullshit but it happens a lot...

You said Alabam a team AHEAD of Penn State is going to be ranked #1 ONLY because Penn State had a bye. How does Alabma LEAP FROG over Penn State when it is ALREADY ranked head fo them.

That is not what he said or I said. He said Alabama will be ranked #1 only because Penn State had a bye. Penn State didn't have a chance to challenge for #1 because they didn't play. I said teams ranked lower than another team have leapfrogged them because they played and the team above them didn't. If that could happen then Penn State could also have leapfrogged Alabama had they played and had an impressive win, especially if they played a ranked opponent. Alabama beat Arkansas St 35-0, not exactly an impressive score against a team they should have ran up 60+ on. Had Penn State played Iowa, like they do next week, and whipped their ass by 70-3 or some insane score that could easily happen, then Penn State could've leapfrogged Alabama. It happens all the time, which is why teams run up scores...

I was at the OU-Nebraska game and as soon as that game ended people ran across the street to the college bar to watch the end of the Texas game on the jumbo screen. Never heard Oklahoma fans screaming for Texas Tech to win before, it was insane.

Doesn't meatter the team above it, Alabama, won. Ergo they are #1. Alabam's opponent my not have been much but PennState's remaining schedule outside of Mich St isn't strong. Also #1, #2 doesn't matter. All you need to be is in the top 2 to play in the National Championship, that's all that matters.

Bingo!
Crappy cell phone video I took a few seconds after the Texas Tech win was confirmed. Hard to hear, but people were going apeshit all over the campus. https://youtube.com/watch?v=ra3Bh4DSndU

Ok angry little fella, I know you love shaking your fist and calling everyone else idiots, but you are wrong on this one. Everyone having a bye week has nothing to do with it. Rankings are based on a combination of polls and computer rankings which figure in won-loss record, overall strength of schedule, margin of victory, and many other factors. You don't know how many points separated Alabama and Penn State in the rankings this week and neither do I. A win is not factored in as x amount of points absolutely, it takes into account the rankings of the opponent, margin of victory, and other factors. It doesn't matter if Alabama won, they could still have been leapfrogged if Penn State had played and whipped on Iowa by a high margin, and if the coaches voted them higher than Alabama combined with the computer ratings factoring the Iowa win as more points. It absolutely could have made a difference, just like if Alabama had been rated lower than Penn State and had whipped Arkansas State by a higher margin they could have leapfrogged Penn State...

Penn State would have 2 losses by now if they played in the Big 12 or SEC. The Big 10 sucks...

Jut for shits and giggles, this is from October 12th when Texas leapfrogged Alabama and took the #1 spot when they beat Oklahoma and Alabama was idle. Undefeated teams leapfrog each other all the time based off polls and computer rankings. But I know, we're all idiots and you know all...

Big 12 is better than the SEC this year, the past few years I'd give the nod to the SEC for sure BUT Georgia has proven to be pretty lame so you have bama and FL as the only title contenders whereas the big 12 has Texas, OK and tech all as REAL challengers for the title. the likes of kansas, missouri have proven to be second tier teams.
I'm unsure of OK State with 1 loss I haven't watched them much. Out of the SEC Auburns horrible year brings you down because you were counting on them to be a goliath this year. LSU hasn't impressed me this year either. LSU, Georgia and auburn are 3 teams that you were counting on to carry your "best conference" banner. Fact is Big 12 has 3 true title contenders while the SEC has 2. At this point I'll be shocked to see an SEC team in the title game. FL's better than bama and FL's only shot at making the title game is backing in with Penn state and Tech going the rest of the way undefeated. There's still OK and Texas and USC for FL to fight it out with. Sure you can say Penn state isn't a true top team but the fact is if they go undefeated they ARE in the title game and NO 1 loss team should leapfrog them. I believe at this point texas tech can play with ANYBODY and beat them. If the game were in Ausin I think texas pulls it out BUT they were fuckin dominant and I'm shocked Texas came back.

oh and before you just think of my post as big 12 fanboyism I was born in Michigan closer to where ND plays than Ann Arbor. I'm solid in big ten tradition and in love with the old school smashmouth football but I just can't get over this Texas Tech offense or Tim Tebow's superman abilities.
Rich Rod's spread option is GAY and I think he's in the running for worst coach in MI history. I never liked WVU and I'll never like a QB that can't throw the ball (Pat white) if thats the ideal QB for rich rods offense then clearly there isn't a place for that offense! I appreciate the spread offense when its run by guys like Tim Tebow who can run AND throw the ball as well as nearly anybody. Even the spread PASS which Purdue and texas Tech have been running for years. Even the NE Patriots run a spread PASS and it obviously works but this spread option rich rod runs is HIGH SCHOOL bullshit. I know the little ten very well but for quality games I've been watching the Big 12 and SEC while I wait for ND to return to greatness with my fingers crossed. Watching LSU and Georgia I honestly don't think either of those teams are anywhere near as good as we thought they were before the season began. I'm not sold on 'bama they haven't beaten ANYBODY Georgia win was closer than it should have been (look at FL) the only other team they play is LSU before the SEC title game and I'm not sure bama can even beat LSU so they better do it convincingly. Tennessee isn't anywhere near as good as expected either. Arkansas has amazed me with how bad they've played... In the end the SEC can be summed up as extremely disappointing this year, previous years and future years not withstanding the Big 12 is honestly SHOCKINGLY good this year. Combine the SEC falling and the Big 12 rising it is pretty easy to say the big 12 is better THIS YEAR than any other conference. Michigan state's coach will have them prepared to play Penn state but just like when they went to OH ST the talent level gap is just too great for hard working players and great coaching to win out. The OHST team that barely lost to penn was NOT the same team that got killed my USC.

There's no way OK can be above Texas, like smax said Texas already beat OU so then you look at losses and margins of that loss. Texas dominated OK more than the score showed while Texas lost in the final second to tech.
