The best part of Obama's program last night was...

his STRATEGY! I come from a television, marketing and relations background and it was a home run.

To blanket the stations simultaneously in the 11th hour in prime time with a live appearance twist at the end was STRATEGIC MARKETING at it's finest!

If he continues this kind of thinking and approach in the next four years and walks his talk with both the US and with foreign relations-this country might not only turn around for the best, it just may be the best yet... IMO anyway

LOVE the move he busted. Classic!

For me it was a home run in the sense that he didnt attack anyone else. He only promoted what he feels are good ideas.
And it was also good to not leave that money on the table. People dont contribute just to see a candidate win or lose and still have millions unspent.

To me the symbolism was at it's strongest point with Obama speaking from a formal office setting and conducting himself in a manner that was 100% Presidential in appearance and delivery. He is showing people how he will not only present himself personally but most importantly how he will represent the United States to not only her citizens but to the whole world.

This is one campaign from a media standpoint that will be hard to top and I for one am glad that he has now set the New Standard for how a campaign should be run.

Yea I have to admit, I was thinking the "Live" icon at the top was BS,because he pulled off the timing perfect. I won't say I'm a kool aid drinker for Obama. Meaning I do support him but don't actually expect him to "change" much.

However the more I see of what he's managed with his campaign, gives me a little hope that maybe he could. If he can run this country half as good as he's ran his campaign it will be 100 times better than the last 8 years under Bush.

As many others have said.. McCain of 00 likely would have made a good presidant. The mcCain of today scares the hell out of me, because I don't think this country could surive another bad presidant like we have had the last 8 years.

I thought the whole thing was great. The office was a nice touch..kind of like getting you used to him being in the oval office. And the stories from a diverse set of families was a good move too. Did you catch the CEO of Google backing Obama? He did a great job and hopefully some of those people that are still on the fence finally made up their minds from it.

It was good marketing, for sure. Obama's infomercial was as slick as they come.

Still, his denial of the Democrats' desire to try to solve all social problems with bigger and bigger government didn't resonate with much sincerity.

It is important to draw a distinction between great substance... and great presentation. Obama's presentation was extremely strong. However, on substance, he was weak. He was a used car salesman, selling people on sexy features of his plan, while ignoring the anemic engine underneath.

Health care is *not* a right; good government IS a right. Important note: home mortgages as a "right" gave us the current economic disaster. Socialized medicine, or socialized ANYTHING, has not been successful anywhere else in the world, so why should it work here?

Government is not the solution --government is the problem. You stimulate economies by getting out of the way and letting them work, not by taxing and spending.

that is the perfection of Live events, ie: Oscars or a breaking news piece. Usually a 7 second delay on anything 'live' due to profanity control, like any show.

It takes a great producer to time out an edited video montage with a live component. Like I said, strategic in every way and I'm impressed by the 'shows' production as well!

Obama had a presence, chin up, and power and conviction behind his words, that is what we need. A powerful presence that is respected by other countries as well to represent this country

I haven't heard to many "Democrats" whom think they have a right to "free" health care. That's another of the myth's you right wingers make up. What I've heard most people say is they want "affordable" health insurance that doesn't drop them soon as they get sick.

Obama has never said he will give us "free" health care.. he said he wants to make it affordable and stop the insurance companies from dropping people soon as they get sick.

In short the majority of the people in this country wants the govt to do it's job and stick up for the little guy. That is the basic reason to have a govt and that's to serve & protect the citizens of it's country.

Making sure insurance companies don't take advantage of the "Average Joe" is the job of govt. That's not socialism, that's serving the citizens of this country.

Please tell me Halbucks.. tell me what you think McCain will do that is so great. Give me some examples of what he is going to do that is so good for this country. I've yet to hear him tell me anything he is "actually" going to do.

Other than the same old scripted responses of cutting 100's of billions of dollars from the budget. While giving big business billions of dollars in tax cuts. I guess that means he plans to pay for everything with Chinese loans because he sure as hell hasn't told us how he plans to make all these tax cuts then pay off the national debit in 4 years.. lol like he claims.

Socialism works great in Scandinavia and most of Europe. Scandinavian countries are all in the top of living standards. Also socialized medicine is a great thing.

You are the biggest ignorant fuck on GFY. Every time you open your mouth, I gag on the rank smell of BULLSHIT that spills out of your filthy cock socket.

The US is the ONLY country in the developed world that doesn't have socialized medicine and you have one of the worst healthcare systems around. The US is the only country in the first world where I can turn up at an emergency room and be left to die in a corridor because I don't have any money.

Now THAT'S civilized.

Ross Perot's infomercials (he ran more than one) were more entertaining with all his charts and views on the economy, etc.

And I think Perot's informercials were entirely live, though I could be mistaken on that.

With all that said, Obama's infomercial was well produced and worthwhile.

Ron

It was very well made and struck a good tone.

To me, I actually thought the part at the end was such an abrupt shift from the prerecorded version that it seemed a little out of place. But that's a minor critique.

I said many months ago, if he can win he will be the greatest politician of our generation. Looks like with a little help from a tanking economy, he might pull it off. Notice I said "politician" meaning the ability to win elections.

This whole election he struck just the right tone. He knew he could never attack or be the "angry black guy" so he quietly demolished everyone with the softest attacks I've ever seen. Bravo.
