I have to go in for a routine cat scan tomorrow which is no big deal. Hell even knowing that I am a super fucking hard IV stick, which always means multiple attempts - does not bother me. Thinking about and waiting for any results also are not even on my mind. Hell I do not even care that the contrast given via IV can cause side effects.

What is eating at me like a hungry bull shark who hasn't eaten in a few months is that I have to drink the Redi-CAT fluid starting tonight. Some 1 1/4 cups latter on tonight, then a light non fatty breakfast if any before 8am and nothing else to eat or drink after that. Then at noon another 1 1/4 cups of it. Then some more when I get there 30 minutes prior to the scan. Technically the rest of it then.

It is a very vile liquid. It is thick like cream. It tastes like what you could imagine an undead smurf would ejaculate - with its fake multi berry masking agent and all. I actually shudder thinking about that liquid. I am fairly certain it could replace water boarding and have a 100% success rate.

Yes that is awful. In my case they stuck a tube down my throat then put the charcoal in. I could taste that charcoal for weeks after. Yuck.

I know the nasty stuff hospitals give you to drink in the name of tests... but I must say it beats the injection of radioactive Thalium that burns as it gets injected into the iv. Still doesn't help with your vile deceased smurf jizz. Do what I tell my kids to do, take a big breathe, hold it, down the liquid, count to 5 then exhale. Good luck you, I know what you mean about having to drink nasty shit before testing. When I was pregnant all 4 times, they would make me drink this shit they called Glucola and drink it fast and then poke me every hour for 4 hours...... I absolutely DESPISE needles with every fiber of my being, but drinking that shit would make me so sick. BLAH!!! I am really weird about what I eat and drink and if I taste the medicine in it, I am done for the rest of the damn day.

The catscan isn't so bad, I have had a few of those.. not SO bad. The IV I would have serious issues with too.... it always takes them 3-4 times on me too because those idiots always collapse my veins.

I was traumatized for an hour after my blood test. I asked for a butterfly needle and they would not give me one... I don't know why they gave one to the little girl in front of me but not to me! I heard her getting one; they leave the door open so I could hear her asking for one and getting it. When I asked for one the nurse didn't give it to me, she said it was not necessary! I was traumatized for at least 2hours after that... I walked to my car and was still traumatized.. went home and was still traumatized... until i started surfing and then sort of forgot about it.

it didnt even hurt, was just very traumatizing!

IV's no issue at all. Even if it requires a few sticks. Oh I also get to go in for a blood draw latter that day at a different office. So I know I will end up stuck real good. Hell I had a few of those long term IV lines that they slide into the inner side of your bicep- yup all 12 inches of tubing and wire. Then they X-ray it to make sure it is in right place and safe. Then they pull the wire out leaving the tube - feels odd to say the least. Also had an arterial line placed into my chest once. They even had to take some of it out a few hours latter (inch or two) cause it kept pinching with each heart beat.

That shit does not phase me.

On other hand 2 hours and about 15 minutes left - EEEEK!

i had it done recently too although not sure if its the same stuff. Mine was for imaging my intestines. It was thick white stuff , reminded me of drinking melted plastic, tasted rather chalky and flavourless , not fun at all. Maybe try drinking a small sooter of something like irish cream , then imagine you are guzzling it..

hope all goes well and you dont catch sight of a smurf circle jerk in the doctors closet or something

Tonight I can mask it some as I can eat a small snack or drink something (non fatty) afterwards. So it will be both times tomorrow that will be horrid since no drinks. I will try my old standby of biting a chunk of ginger after I down it. Ginger over rides most tastes and also helps your stomach from heaving. They also said it would not mess with it. Will ask again tomorrow if I can chew a piece and spit it out tomorrow. Do not see why as I know they allowed gum before.

It is more the thought and shit about it. Many bad memories of it and its taste.

Lived through the first round. No vomit - yeah! I do really want to hurl though. Was able to gulp it down in a drink or two. Nose plugged, them big bite of ginger before I unplugged nose. Was not 100% horrid that way. Ginger helped a small tad. Chewed it until medicine taste was gone. Spat out the ginger.

Only downside is my tummy area - intestinal area. It really feels alive almost. Like that feeling you may get when you just ate a whole bunch of Indian food that did not agree with your body much and is letting you know. It is uncomfortable to say the least.

Oh I also get to go in for a blood draw latter that day at a different office. So I know I will end up stuck real good. Hell I had a few of those long term IV lines that they slide into the inner side of your bicep- yup all 12 inches of tubing and wire. Then they X-ray it to make sure it is in right place and safe. Then they pull the wire out leaving the tube - feels odd to say the least. Also had an arterial line placed into my chest once. They even had to take some of it out a few hours latter (inch or two) cause it kept pinching with each heart beat. That shit does not phase me. I do really want to hurl though. Was able to gulp it down in a drink or two. Nose plugged, them big bite of ginger before I unplugged nose. Was not 100% horrid that way. Ginger helped a small tad. Chewed it until medicine taste was gone. Spat out the ginger. Only downside is my tummy area - intestinal area. It really feels alive almost. Like that feeling you may get when you just ate a whole bunch of Indian food that did not agree with your body much and is letting you know.
