I agree with what he says, our business model is based precisely on that.

Interesting article. However, some of the reasoning is flawed.

Quote:
Our industry doesn’t rely on credit the way other industries do, and we have the ability to make our product extremely affordable to almost any income level.

Let’s look at a few numbers from Hollywood to back up my point that a bad economy isn’t the cause of our problems. So far in just four weeks, a brain-dead movie about a talking Chihuahua has made approximately 80 million dollars in ticket sales. In just one weekend, a fifth installment in what has to be a tired and exhausted horror franchise just pulled in 30 million in box office – and that was the second-place film for that period. First was yet another Disney attempt to produce shallow American teenagers with their “High School Musical” franchise – that one pulled in 42 million in one weekend. And these are just the American box office numbers.

All this tells us that people are spending money on entertainment still, and the less the entertainment makes you think deep thoughts, the more money it makes.
Our industry may not rely on credit, but ever tried purchasing porn membership with a maxed-out credit card?

As for the comparison with the movie industry, yep, people still consume entertainment. However, last I checked movie tickets are paid for in cash and online porn isn't?

Hey DX... just so you know, debit cards are not the same as credit cards, and they're used a LOT to buy porn. People don't need "credit" in order to get a debit card.

Glad you folks liked the read.

My thoughts are that John Cleese would be hard pressed to make light of the yearly graph on my stats program.

Of course they could. Why do you think their bank accounts are empty? They withdrew the cash to pay for the movie tickets!

This question seems to have been missed.

From what experience does Connor speak from? From his own running multi million dollar programs? Or even smaller ones that do 50 to 100k a month.

I for one, who read that article would like to know.

This is actually an important point. It does look like the CC companies are going to tighten the reins on actual credit cards, but those visa and mastercard branded debit cards are exploding... There are tons of new companies offering them and it's going to open up a lot of customers who previously couldn't buy on the net. AFAIK you don't even have to be 18 to get one

It would seem a no brainer that porn is recession proof in the way that alcohol is...

I think that they can be a great thing, and the disposable credit cards are only going to get bigger too..... as far as adapting, it means that retention will not be possible and offering a high pps will be risky for sponsors

Wonder if this means surfer will get fucked over for even more in cross-sales and hidden charges, since the uncertainty of them ever rebilling will increase.
