In just one weekend, a fifth installment in what has to be a tired and exhausted horror franchise just pulled in 30 million in box office – and that was the second-place film for that period. First was yet another Disney attempt to produce shallow American teenagers with their “High School Musical” franchise – that one pulled in 42 million in one weekend. And these are just the American box office numbers.
All this tells us that people are spending money on entertainment still, and the less the entertainment makes you think deep thoughts, the more money it makes.
As for the comparison with the movie industry, yep, people still consume entertainment. However, last I checked movie tickets are paid for in cash and online porn isn't?Whitehat is for chumps

Hey DX... just so you know, debit cards are not the same as credit cards, and they're used a LOT to buy porn. People don't need "credit" in order to get a debit card.

This is actually an important point. It does look like the CC companies are going to tighten the reins on actual credit cards, but those visa and mastercard branded debit cards are exploding... There are tons of new companies offering them and it's going to open up a lot of customers who previously couldn't buy on the net. AFAIK you don't even have to be 18 to get one
