I think user-generated porn already has a greater attraction to surfers than does produced porn. I'm convinced the popularity of a site like youporn.com is due to its true amateur porn, not due to some of the "illegal" content that may be there as well.

It's just that the market at the moment is vastly dominated by produced porn, there's a taboo associated with freely submitting your own porn which is why it may not ever truly thrive as much as user-generated content on youtube and the likes does. Until very recently there hasn't been a proper medium for user-generated content.

User generated content is NOT finding their favorite video that someone else created and uploading it. It's taking a webcam, camera or video camera and producing something THEMSELVES and uploading it.

User generated porn (the tiny portion of amateur couples willing to fuck and FILM it for FREE, then share it) will NEVER come close to filling the need of erotic for the end user.

user generated porn is dangerous grounds. a lot of underage shit will get caught in the mix. taping yourself fucking is not an activity restricted to the 18+ crowd. someone is gonna take a fall over that shit one day. some of these "amateur" mmebers sites that gather their content from usenet and amateur sharing forums and shit without 2257 or any documentation. they almost definitely are hosting underage content somewhere. and as was said. there is ALWAYS going to be a huge market for produced porn. Just look at how well airbrushed porn sells compared to other content in alot of niches!

Well when you look at the background of many of the "Newer" producers of Adult over the last few years they started out with Amateur stuff and just sold it as content.

The "What if" scenerio has already occured in my opinion. Many Professional Video Labels have collapsed tons of them and it is not only a sign of the internets effects but part and parcel to Amateur based productions that land themselves on the internet every day.

Anyone with a Video camara and basic PC can create content for the net and that availability and simplicity is incredibly evident over the past several years.

Well if you saw me naked, you'd soon be done with porn and sex for good.

I think much would be the same actually. Eyes are king. You would want to be able to attract people who can provide content for you. These people in turn would help attract more people. The focus becomes your software and the other people on your site rather than a seperate product which you are selling. You would need to find ways to monetize your traffic using a different model. For instance perhaps you would open up a dating service among your members (which also connects to a more global base) or upsell special status accounts.

As long as you can keep the eyes at your site you need not worry so much. But lose that and you're truly screwed. The primary difference lies in what you are selling.
