Interesting art..
Michael Rosen in Chicago does his own similar version, but with models, partly nude stuff, very artistic and computer graphics enhanced.

Mostly post work. More of a graphic artist than a photographer. Although I guess photography can be losely defined.

eh, too much Lucis & other Photoshop plugins...as a "photographer" the pics are pretty average, its just the post-processing that makes them stand out from being an ordinary photo

don't be too impressed mutt

If anything Mutt, it goes to show you that even though "photogs all over are trying to figure it out" GFY has people that know (without trying it out themselves) how it's done.

Gotta love GFY.

I'm surprised you didn't get someone saying "that's easy"

Yup thats about right and some Path cut outs and some masking here and there to.

Anyone that has a decent still camara and good Photoshop skills can do this kind of thing. I do this kind of shit every day, just not on a "Photographic" level or "Mythic" Graphic look. Same techniques though, cut outs, levels, sharpens background blurring or changing backgrounds entirelly etc.

Anyone that works with Photoshop more than a couple years can do this stuff.

Usually agree with you AQ but you are way off here. I do this stuff all the time too. these are $10k a piece shots easy. A lot of art direction, a good eye, and amazing lighting, before the HDR and layering. I have been shooting since 1992 and consider myself pretty good. I am well versed in this technique. I can do this stuff but it takes A LOT of SKILL and WORK. It has to be shot amazing THEN enhanced. This guy is a true artist and is very skilled.

HDR and lots of post prod work... but yeah I'm sure you're as good as he is... his clients are probably paying him pennies for his shitty work (ufc pres and station casino owners lorrenzo fertidda, gunit, 50 cent, many group, ghost face killa etc).

yeah there's a lot of photoshop done, but if you strip it all away and pay attention to the shot itself, they are actually well taken photos.. angles, lighting, background, and cropping all very well done...

it is rare to see someone do both - a nice shot and good use of PS

Jay has it right - this is not just 'a lot of work in post' and plug-ins. He's a young guy and very much in demand. The main criticism of his work is that it is 'kitschy' - which it is, and copycats will run it into the ground but right now it's extremely popular. You can get an imitation of this using Photoshop tricks but it won't be near the same quality.

Its cool and all, but I value art based on emotional response. I can't say his work does much for me in that department. Feels like fleeting, in your face, eye candy.

I prefer the work of photographers like Pepe Smit.

Kind of looks like the same work for Batman - Dark Knight,

the one with the joker's back on the street, the other with batman.

Very similar.

this is how you do a self portrait. not with photoshop

people on this forum, think a picture of a skank pissing is art, its no doubt they have no real idea of what photography is.

I think that shit looks pretty sick.. Yea alot of doods but well known people there. He's obviously got the attention of some big time clients.

I'd like to see some more shots on the water or around falls.. looks crazy with that type of editing.

you do not have a very good eye. there is a world of difference between the 2 sources you're comparing. reminds of the guys here that think you take any image and run it through photoshop to produce top quality glamor. $.02

The 'photoshop' argument is essentially moot in this circumstance.

What this guy is doing is creating sharp, highly stylised works.
The elements of photography and composition, no matter how good you say are in photoshop [Hi Alien!] - can't be replicated by filters.

As Jay pointed out, the photographic elements in these compositions are vivid, strong and crisp, and come from a background of hard work and talent...
