If you bought $1000 of stock a year ago, you would now have:

$91.28 if you bought Washington Mutual
$37.50 if you bought Neomagic
$21.29 if you bought Freddie Mac
$20.79 if you bought Fannie Mae

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the recycling REFUND... You would have $... 214.00 in cash.

So the best investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-Keg Plan

This ancient joke is just to fragile...

Does any other state besides California also pay a CRV tax, so thus when you return the cans you actually only get some of your damn money back anyways on the return. I think here it is 5 cents a can and they sure in the hell do not give back 5 cents a can at recycling facilities.

Now go look and see where you would be if you bought 1000.00 in say budweiser or Campbell's soup stock.

I had a joiner in my house last weekend hanging some new doors for me and he told me about a scheme his company ran for them. They each got $2000 worth of shares when the company was sold. The shares were in a bank in the UK doing good at that time. That same bank was bailed out by another last week and his shares are totally gone.

At one point the shares were worth $10,000 to them,

But if you were given the shares as a bonus for giving loans you could not back up or meet if called, knew the system was going to collapse because you're in the system and sold a couple of months ago you would be laughing all the way to the Bahamas.

Or a turd who sees his company is going to the wall and tries to squeeze $10 million in bonuses. We caught one of them and missed hundreds.

People are so quick to pass around these things without really thinking about it. Oh well. Here in canada $1044 bucks would get you 29, 24 pack cases (bottles) and you can return them at 10 cents a piece which would get you $69.60.

If you return a bottle of Imperial red full of urine, perhaps.

Here in Sweden we do have ~20% recycling money back, but that doesn't really matter since they add those 20% when you buy it anyway. Always says like: $2+0,40 and shit on (bigger)soda cans etc. The small ones have about 10% recycle value.
