Net Flix

Anybody use Netflix? I am thinking about using them but was wondering if there were some alternatives.. maybe one that will let you get tapes instead of dvds? (We like to watch movies upstairs too .. no dvd player up there)

Seems like a pretty cool idea.. tell me your experiences eh ;)

Cool cool. Well I have an XBOX to play Dvds downstairs.. and im thinking about maybe buying another plug so I can switch back and forth to watch em wherever I want.. thing is ive noticed that the sound level is kind of low on the xbox.. then again maybe im just really losing my hearing. heh.

Netflix sounds cool... Thing is I still LIKE tapes too.. Ive found a lot of DVDS have that widescreen crap... and I hate it.. :/

The nice thing about Netflix is that you get to keep the DVD's as long as you need to. No more having to worry about returning them before you've had a chance to watch them. As soon as you return 1 or more, they send the next ones in your queue...

We just started with NetFlix and I love it...we accidently had a wrong title shipped (wrong DVD in the package) and they got everythign resolved quickly. Excellent customer service. It also beats mulling the shelves nedlessly at Blockbuster....sometimes it sucks waiting until the next movie arrives (specially if you really want to see it, but then those titles, you just grab at your local renatl place anyways) I like using the rating system as it has given me some great looking titles I might have otherwise missed....they even had "Ice From The Sun"

if only they had adult titles.....hmmmm...business opp? ;)

Netflix is the best thing since sliced bread if you like movies.

No trips to the video store, keep it as long as you want. Whenever you get done with one title, ship it back and they'll send you the next one on your list. And you can change the order of the list anytime, if you think of something you just have to see right now, bump it up to the top. Only catch is, you can only have a certain number of titles out at a given time. I think the default these days is 3.

And DVD players are dirt cheap these days...upgrade that VHS.

I live in BFE. No good video stores around.

When Netflix came out I was stoked, and have been using it for about a year now. I like it. Mostly because i don't have to give my money to Cockbuster anymore.

All in all, you'll probably pay about the same as you will with some late fees, but if you keep up with SASing the dvds back you can make out well. Kinda hard to pick movies w/o seeing the box, but oh well. Its a cool sysytem. and nice to not have to stress about getting tapes back on time.

Their website has a crappy new-release page, so I go to Cockbuster's website, and use theirs, then order it from Netflix hahaha- suck down some o their bandwidth.

One thing i don't like is DVDs in general- I hate that 70% of the time i gotta watch the movie with those stupid bars

Without those bars you're watching a movie that has essentially been cropped. Your TV isn't shaped like a movie screen.

DVD's look gorgeous on a good widescreen TV set....especially if you have a progressive scan player and a line doubler.

walmart online has started a dvd rental service that's about two dollars cheaper than netflix. i'm going to stay with netflix just cause i'm already with them.

you can't beat the lack of late fees with this service and dvds have so many xtra goodies on them compared to tapes.

of course walmart sells dvd players for less than $75.00. hell, they even sell a portable player with a screen for less than $200.00!

the deals are out there

Hell, I was gonna sign up for NetFlix, but after reading about the Wal-Mart version of it, I'm gonna give it a try, it's cheaper and they give you 30-day free, so you can't beat that.

Holy shit, I joined the Wal-Mart program and hell, none of the new releases are available, most of them have a "very long wait" next to them, so hell, there's not much sense there, I guess that is a trial, it's just a shame that with their trial, they're gonna turn off MANY people because nothing is in stock.

Is Net FLix the same way with it's new releases ?

i've had a few show a long wait, but never actually had to wait for them. I've only been a member for 4 months but I've yet to have to wait for a movie, and I've been surprised at the fast turnaround they have.

Thats how netflix used to be. But they cut down the number of releases you could have out from 4 to 3 and now it seems every new release Ive selected has been available. Plus if you live in California you usually get your selection the very next day. I think I rent so many movies that they actually lose money in the postage. Netflix is a great deal... oh and they let you "lose" three movies before they cancel your account
