That is correct. If you travel abroad you should know this already.

However, the USA is not alerted of all crimes Americans commit overseas. Though if they catch wind of it by that country or the US Embassy in that country, you could very well have to deal with the US system upon your return. I've known a few guys to get fucked up this way.

US law applies to all US citizens where ever they are in the world, in addition to the local laws of the area you are in.

Again, I'm blown away so many Americans are dumb to this. Do you think you can just leave your country and all bets are off? No wonder so many Americans act like fools abroad.

You also have to pay taxes to the US government if you no longer live in the USA. Even if you move out tomorrow and never return a day in your life, Uncle Sam requires you to still pay income tax on any foreign income you may earn.

Of course there are loop holes and they give you a little break if you can prove you earn foreign income, but flat out the USA owns it's people. Slaves, all of us.

Just awful I read this thread yesterday and have been thinking about it a lot. I'm not sure if someone else mentioned it, but I had a terrible thought last night.

What if the girl says yes because she knows she's HIV+ but the guy doesn't actually have HIV because it was just a shock/scare value thing?

That's the point. It's a lose / lose no matter what. It's sick to play either side of it like that. Either the girl gets exposed to it, or maybe the male talent does. Who knows?

I also heard you can get infected multiple times. So if you already have HIV, you can get reinfected. I'm not sure how bad this could get but it doesn't sound healthy.

What happens is you can get multiple strains which means you die faster.

Do you remember that guy in New York a few years ago with "Super Aids" and died really fast? That's what happened. He already had one strain of HIV and then picked up another strain and it killed him in like 2 years.

There are many strains around the world, they list them by letters.

That would be the little break he speaks of I think. But you have to file for that status, it's not just given to you. You have to show you are living abroad for X amount of time and earning foreign income. Then I think it's a 82k break.

There could come a day when you have to renew your passport...

Now you get fined $500 if you refuse to put your social security number on your passport application. But it's also up to them to not give it to you if you don't provide it.

Most countries have a double tax treaty so you don't get totally fucked. For example, if you now live and pay tax in Brazil, you can deduct that amount from what you owe the USA. But you still have to file to the USA and pay if the other deduction is not enough.

Bottom like for Americans, Uncle Sam owns you.

The best thing you can do is get very, very creative about how you file.

It's pretty easy to get rid off of this tax issue if you live abroad: Give up your US American citizenship. A lot of rich Americans have done this in the past.

It's not quite how you describe it. If you reside overseas you are not taxed on your first $80,000 of income. If you make more than $80,000 while overseas it becomes a bit more complex. You do still have to file tax returns each year, but I believe you are automatically given til October 15th to file for the previous year.

There are other ways that do not require such drastic means. Again, it's only necessary if you make over $80,000 per year and I doubt the majority of the people who frequent this forum do ;)

If you are smart about things you do not have to pay income tax at all to anyone if you make less than $80,000 per year. Legally too.

File for this status? It's very simple to do actually. I have done it myself and have many friends that do it every year. I don't know how it could be easier actually.

US Federal law? State and if so which state?

If you steal something in London and flea back to the US you only risk extradition back to Great Britain. You will not be charged with theft in the US for what you stole in London. The US has no jurisdiction in such matters.

The only exception I am aware of is if you travel to another country for the sole purpose of having sex with a minor. Then you could possibly face charges in the US. This was passed during the Bush administration so it's fairly new and never has been challenged. I do not think this would stand up if reviewed by the Supreme Court.

I think what he was saying is the same.

Though you have to file for that status and be earning FOREIGN INCOME. That is the trick. You can't just simply live abroad and get the tax break.

Though if you earn more than that allowed amount, I think is 82k now, you will be taxed on income above that, and you get the break on the first 82k. But you do have to file in that manner, live and earn foreign income for almost a year to qualify. It's not just a given.

The foreign income tax exclusion.

We are on the same page.

The limit is now: $85,700

The time you must be abroad: 330 full days during any period of 12 consecutive months

Very easy to do so long as you meet the requirements of the IRS. But I think you know that.

"Foreign Income" is easy to have if you technically are an employee of a foreign company. Where this company gets their income matters not...

Listen you fucks... I've already got a bead on you and your van. Lots of info already. I'm going to pull every resource I have to make sure you go down in flames and have no chance of bail when they arrest you. A few Thais have already reported you and I'm on the phone come morning to the head of the Crime Suppression Unit. Your days are numbered.

Of all the low down dirty things I have ever seen in my life, this just about hits rock bottom.

not really. there are double taxation treaties with many countries. basically, you have to prove you paid taxes somewhere that has an agreement with the US, or you may have to pay taxes where you are claiming residence and in the US

This is correct. Many countries have tax treaties so you don't get double fucked.
