My First Furniture Overhaul.... (PICS!!!)

So, I've been looking for a new hobby, not that I have a whole lot of freetime but none the less I wanted to find a hobby,

I just moved into a new house and the whole damn thing is WHITE So I figured I'd take the ugly ass table and chairs from the diningroom and redo them...

So, I took the seats off the chairs...

And gave them a coat of paint (Spray paint 1 can per chair)

The spray paint was cheap ass shit and the chairs looked they sat through a fire instead of being black

So I went out and got a few cans of some nice high gloss acrylic black paint, and attacked the table...

Originally I was just going to make the bars and legs black but I got a bit carried away

After I re-painted all the chairs it was time to bring them inside to reupholster all the chair seats.

They looked pretty damn good if I do say so myself

Put everything where it needed to go, added some shit to the window area and viola'

I went overboard with the 2nd coat of paint on the tabletop so it bubbled up in spots, so I decided to cover up the bulk of the "scaring" with some leftover seat cover material...

All in all I think my first attempt looks damn good AND I only 'lost' one chair in the process, (Bars broke off, and either need to be replaced or find a new chair.)

What do you think?

And feel free to flame, BUT be original and don't just call me a "Queer Eye" lol

Deff, however I really HATED the original look of the table and chairs lol,

My last step in the kitchen is to replace the current countertop with black marble I'm going for that "ScarFace" look

Ghetto Reminds me of something my dad might do.

I'd replace that flooring if I were you, too. Put in some locking wood floors. We put this in a room in my parents house recently and it rocks.

Here's the idea:

That is indeed tight, however if I do get to redo the floor (I need to there are a few dents and tears from past tennents) I want to go with some sort of black flooring, keeping with my ScarFace theme.

No shit the entire time I was doing this I kept thinking.... is this possible?? Can I pull this off and still be considered 100% straight

All jokes aside, I really enjoyed the whole process, and I think I might keep doing it, maybe refinish my old ass dresser next month.

If you don't own the property I wouldn't even think about it then. But you should definitely buy a casa of your own and then you can have at it with the upgrades.

Yeah just renting right now, but I do have an option to buy if I'm interested, I'm waiting to see how the winter goes here before I make my mind up about buying it or not.

The place is nice, about 2400 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, nice yard, back deck, 2 car garage, and a full bacement, tucked in the woods of a cul-da-sac(sic)

You want to be like a fictitious character from a movie, basically you're trying to be something that isn't real.

No, just a huge fan of the color scheme and decor of the house in that movie, Red, Black and White are my three fav colors.

Oh not too mention I'd never want that huge globe statue/fountain inside my house lol.

I used to have allot of "odd" ideas for hose decor,

Wanted one room wall to wall fishtanks (Wall sized Tanks) the floor would be sandy carpet with bean bag chairs, ceiling would have 2 big skylights covered in blue celafane to make it look like you were underwater looking up.

Another room would have a wrap around forest mural covering all four walls, the carpet would be green shag, bean bag chairs and a hammock tied between two fabricated trees in the room, two big skylights.

What can I say I was a huge pothead years ago lol

I'd chance saying you should have made a valance for those tacky blinds instead of putting it down as a cushion. The black actually came through pretty good, and you can likely buff out the 'bubbles' with some fine grain sandpaper.

Back in gradeschool, a friend's parents did this to their living room, but they used some rather tacky 'full-sized' wallpaper, but the green shag and bean bags (no fake trees or hammock). It looked absolutely awful.

I actually did both, in case you missed it above:

I'm looking for something better then those ugly ass blinds, I might go with some full length curtains I'm just cemented on anything there just yet.

That sounds like a nightmare lol, but I GOTTA ask, did they have an "orange" kitchen? I remember the ugliest fucking orange countertop that damn near half my block had when I was younger.

Hah. This picture tripped a broken rule in my adblock that I thought I turned off.. no clue why I blocked *le09.jpg, anymore. If you had enough fabric, I might have suggested something more like this:

The way you did it reminds me of the dingleballs in Cheech's car.

Nope. They did have an ugly harvest gold oven and an avacado green fridge, though. That counter would have been right at home.

THAT'S the style I used in my livingroom, I tried them in those kitchen windows but they looked very out of place...

That bottom portion sits about 3 feet or so off the ground.

2400 sf and you have $50 Wal-Mart dining set in an eat-in kitchen that looks like it belongs in a 900 sf ghetto apartment? Nice!

If you're tucked in the woods, just toss those shitty mini-blinds. The birds and squirrels won't care if you're naked in your kitchen.

Ehh, I'm not worried about the cold per-say, I've lived here too damn long, and I'm used to the 6 months of winter we have.

What I am worried about is how weather proofed this house really is, or is not lol

bracing myself for the heat bill

With that color on the table, you already got that and plenty more.

pimpin' chairs...
but I have to tell you something...
red color is very bad for kitchen and dining table since it makes you more hungry...
(that's why McD is all in red)...

-Loki-
damn, are you rich? That place looks like paradise.

Now you have a table and chairs that clash with your wooden cabinets and wooden bar chairs. In a few weeks the black paint will have scratches, fingerprints, and marks where it was cleaned. WTF? Horrible ......

The red drapes and fringe style aren't suited for a kitchen. Lose the blinds unless you have close neighbors ... or replace they are five bucks each at Lowes.

Look for a larger new/used wood table/chair set that fills up some space and matches the traditional style of you kitchen.
