Hpw much does it cost to have a gas line installed for a dryer?

Already have gas ran to the house - about how much should I expect to pay to have a line tapped in and ran to the dryer - around $100??

On my new house being built they quoted $500.

It was only $200 to the kitchen because it's close to the gas line coming in to the house but the back patio and laundry room require more pipe. |

I don't know your local rates, but assume 8 man hours (2 guys 1/2 day each) at 40 to 50 bucks an hour, which is pretty standard... + parts & permit(s) if needed... so yep, expect to pay between 500 and a grand.

you cant just buy pipe and fit it in for a gas line. gas pipe isnt the same as copper where you can cut it to length and solder the joiints. You have to cut the pipe then thread it. Even for a small job, its going to be 300+

thanks for the input guys - I have a sweet deal pending on a front load W/D set but the dryer is gas and my current hookup is electric. Is it worth it for the long run to just shell out the cash??

The job is really worth $100, it's few hours worth of work if even that... just need to find some handyman that has the tools and knows how to do it... pretty easy to find one that will work for $25/hr around here, not sure about your area...

the licensed guys will fuck you hard, they will probably try to fuck you out of $500 like others have said earlier...

![]() Gas pipe can be copper, steel or even pvc. Copper pipes here are the norm with PVC replacing older pipes under ground as they are flexible and don't corrode. Copper can be soldered with tin solder, but for gas, the standard is brazed (silver braze the stronger of them all). Don't know about you, but for gas where I live, the insurance company requires it is done by a qualifed gas plumber. I've done all the central heating and hot/cold water myself, but for gas had to get someone in. For 20 metres of pipe (law states max 5 joints per 10 metres) and 10 joints, the plumber charged 800 euros. Quotes ranged from 500 to 1700 though.
