I would vote for Obama because he is a democrat instead of a right winged, religious replublican such as John McCain, Sarah Palin and the current president of the united states, George Bush. I also agree with alot of Obamas ideas as far as setting this country back on the right track.

There are many reasons to vote for Obama, but one that often gets overlooked is ...

Supreme Court Appointments.

Right now, the court is split down the middle. But the next few years will probably bring some openings (particularly John Paul Steven's seat, since he is already 88 yrs old).

Packing the Court with more right-wingers will have damaging effects on civil liberties for many years to come. This should be of special concern for people who value their First Amendment rights, since the courts are usually where those rights get protected.

I don't even want to think about who John McCain (or even worse, Sarah Palin) would appoint.

Why do people on this board think that the Democrats are all about protecting your rights and the Republicans always want to take them away.

Interesting poll numbers show that well 82% of voters who support McCain believe the justices should rule on what is in the Constitution, just 29% of Barack Obama’s supporters agree.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/publ...e_court_update

Lets see it's 5-4 republican at the moment Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Kennedy, and Scalia are right. Stephens, Breyer, Souter, and Ginsburg are left.

As Kennedy votes so does the Court. Almost all decisions are 5-4 with Kennedy breaking the 4-4 tie. His role is very pronounced and he never strays too far left and never too far right; much like O'Connor.

Interestingly there location relative to center is totally unrelated to who appointed them. Either Souter or Breyer were GHWBs appointee and they consistently vote left. Stephens was a Ford appointee and he's off the charts to the left.

I think that most politicians over promise and under deliver, but I feel that Obama at least WANTS to make the changes that he claims he will make, as opposed to feeding me a line of shit just to get me to vote for him.

I used to have a tremendous amount of respect for John Mccain, but I think that he's done a 180, and sold out in the worst way because his previous strategy failed to get him the office that he wanted. He's an "end justifies the means" sort of guy, and he changed his approach because he realized it was the only way to become a republican president. Way to go "maverick".

I don't know about Biden, but Obama's on the record for supporting net neutrality and opposing censorship.

To put it another way......the black guy seems rather less likely to fuck up the internet than the old man and the bible thumping wench he's running against, capeesh?

That was exactly my point. The Court is evenly split right now with one justice sitting in the middle deciding which way they come down. Which makes any future appointments (even just one seat) potential game changers.

GHWB appointed Souter, and has been heavily criticized by conservatives for doing so. A year later he appointed Thomas, so I guess that made up for it.

Justices are appointed for life so you never know what the will do. But as a general proposition, Republican's get all excited over judges like Scalia, Thomas and Alito. McCain/Palin are more likely to appoint judges in that mold than Obama is.

He will have to figure out how to log on first.

"I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself," McCain told the New York Times in an interview that appeared Sunday. "I don't expect to be a great communicator, I don?t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need." - July 13, 2008

I think just the change in administration from someone like bush to someone like obama would stimulate the economy alone. Give people hope again. Not to mention Mccain offers nothing for people under 50. I like old people as much as anyone should but there should be an age limit to running for president.

I am voting for Obama because this country is in desparate need of change both demestic and international.

If Obama dosent win this election... then Ameruica as you know it will no longer exist. Forget everything you think you knnew about the U S Of A and prepare for the pain

because I promise you it will be coming.

How could remain the worlds number 1 super power after we elect a 72 y/o crazy POW and a hockey mom to office to run our country VS a harvard grad and one of the most respected men in international affairs .... this would be akin to pullin the sheets back and showing the world our ugly body.... are we really this dumb???... the world will know so if we elect mccaine and pigly lipstick wiggly
