Any industry lawyers can help?

I want to pay a lawyer to go over my contract and get me out of it, without paying the remaining balance.

I have been very unhappy with a service I've been in for a while, I've asked many times to be released from contract and their support ticket system has failed to reply to me in about a year

Please help!

Thanks

please hit me up on icq at 130321510 if you'd like to discuss exact situation, pricing, and how long this will take. thanks

Thank you. I've been replaying the "Phil Hartman vs. Ben Stiller" scene in my head since I read the first sentence.

That sounds like something more for just a regular old business lawyer... I'm not sure, but I don't really see why an industry-specific lawyer would be necessary to get out of a contract. Aren't most industry lawyers focused on First Amendment issues anyway?

1. You don't need an industry attorney for that. Chad is still good though since one of his specialties is contract law (what you need).

2. Why would you enter into a contract for hosting?

Every state has different laws so you should specify where your compnay is and where the company that you have a contract with is. That way if its a california company then a california attorney can can help.

hey jscott,

i wouldnt waste your time with a lawyer. i would just pack up and leave. while im no attorney, i do think that most of those contracts are unenforceable, and i dont think youre at a level which would warrant them actually getting lawyers involved. if the service has been poor, and you can get a better deal elsewhere, just take it and leave. i dont think a court would uphold such a long contract, plus the service is poor, plus i doubt its even worth them to sue you (imagine a lawyer charges $250-350 an hr, etc). get your stuff out and to a new host (which doesnt make you sign a contract, which is now the industry norm), then once your moved and off, call them up, let them know you moved, pay your latest bill, and let them know you could give fuck all about their contract, and you're out. they may threaten you but thats probably about it, its a sign they are a terrible host.

Hey man, I have servers on 4 different hosts right now, I dont want to mention who I'm talking about, I'd rather keep the names involved low (except for my name of course hehe)

Well, thanks for suggestion man, but I'd just really like to part ways on decent terms, so I want to go about it as proper as possible.
