Q: 3G & data cell phone service in Asia?
Anybody know what the scoop is on the availability of 3G cell data services in Asian countries like Thailand, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, etc.?
I'm thinking about getting a 3G smartphone (gsm) but want to make sure I'll be able to put it to good use and stay on the webbies and the internets;) while I am in those places. Thanks for any answers provided! |

Get your phone over here. There are waaaaaay more options in Asia than what you have in USA. Then it's going to work just fine.
Some BAD ass phones have been released here. |

http://europe.nokia.com/A41146122 $420 in USA; hard to imagine *any* tech gear cheaper than USA. Digital cameras, computers, etc., always seem to be 20-30% more expensive there than here. |

I believe one of the two major carriers already offers 3G in Thailand (AIS) and the other one (DTAC) will have it in the next few months.
