Scenalyzer Live is a great video capture app that can make thumbnails of the video clips. It can index the file much faster than real time.

This is a little more than I need, just looking to make a contact sheet from the WMV's, so I can know at a glance what's what, but I'll keep this one in mind for the Mini-DV's
