Profitability of solo sites.

So im new to this game. The producing side of it anyway.

I've been approached by 2 girls, both of whom are interested in shooting solo sites with me. One upto b/g and the other will be more softcore stuff (Nude, Open leg)

I would love to shoot them as they are both gorgeous girls and not the coke addled girls the UK usually produces. I am just concerned about the profitability of creating such sites.

Both are going to be linked, so members get access to both for one price and they will both be updated at least every 2 days. So thats at least 1 update per day between them both.

I know there are a lot of guys (and girls) on here who have run or are currently running solo sites and I would appreciate any info you could share.

Thanks

You'll need to have someone who works hard on tour and site conversions. Someone who works hard on members area updates and retention, someone who will produce interesting and stimulating content. That right there will get the site launched. Then the biggest factor is someone to market them. To get affiliates and to get traffic to it. If you can master these 4 areas and if the girls are hot you can make some decent money. Fail in any of these areas or wrong girl and you'll lose your shirt.

Well, if you know anything about marketing, or can market to affiliates well, you should do just fine. I don't know the exact details of them, but there are numerous solo girl sites which make thousands of sales per month (if not more). But, it is all about getting them out there and branding their name. If you don't know marketing, or don't have a marketing team in place, I would suggest building a large team of affiliates to get them out there for you.

Of course as Shap mentioned the content and presentation are HUGE factors as well.

A safe and conservative estimate for you is if you do everything i mentioned well you can expect 5 to 10 signups a day. Most of that will be from affiliates so about 40% of your overall revenue will go to payouts. If you can survive and be happily profitable on what's left after that and hosting costs then I say go for it.

What I love about this site is that people reply instantly, lol

Im pretty confident on designing tours and the site as I was a designer for a good while as my 9-5. I know I can get some great content out of these girls so thats no problem. So its only marketing that I need to really crack on with and sort out then.

5-10 a day is pretty good going I think, I was estimating much less from what girls who've had sites have told me. Although they didn't do any marketing or anything, just relied on their names to sell the site, which they never did

Im pretty ropey when it comes to affiliates, how hard is it to set up a good affilite scheme?

I will be launching some solo sites of my own in the coming months and an affiliate program to go along with it. If you have the investment money you can shoot for a NATS / Karma setup from the start, or you could always start with CCBill and only offer Revenue Share (probably wise not to offer PPS right out the door anyway). You can gain affiliates on forums like GFY and others (believe it or not there are actually some money makers amongst all of these surfers). However having a good amount of promo tools is a must, if the affiliates have no content or tools to push your sites, they are more than likely never going to push them in the first place. If you have a good product, the right tools, and the support, you should gain some good affiliates on your side which can pump out some good sales.

Sales per day really depend on the marketing that is in place, whether it is by you, or a team of affiliates. It can be anywhere from 0-100+. As an affiliate I send about 10 per day to one of my affiliates, and I know I am one of the small fish there. So I can only imagine what they make in overall sales per day. There are many affiliates who can drive much higher numbers than that, but it obviously has to be mutually beneficial. I probably can't offer an inside look like you are looking for yet, but any questions from the affiliate side of things feel free to hit me up.

First thing you should do is a little test shoot with each
What you might consider 'gorgeous' - your camera, and/or surfers, might not

The vast majority of sologirl sites do under 5 sales a day, unless you are heavily marketing the sites yourself. It's really impossible to gauge the marketing aspect, and if on the girl has that special "extra" something that crosses over.

Don't do a partnership with the models, pay them for the work up front and shoot enough for at least a year of updates. Almost all models will flake out and when they do, you are still responsible to affiliates and members to deliver a good product... and recoup your investment.

A figure thrown around for sologirl sites to recoup their investment is a year, maybe more. With sologirl sites you should look into CCBill. It will help gain you affiliates to at least try marketing your site(s)

My advice would be to shoot as much as you can as often as you can to get plenty of content before your models decide that its notwhat they want to anymore or they expect to be rich within a month!!

It's hard work to start from nothing with a new site and make a brand ...

If you plan on doing some sort of revenue share with the model, it better be an incredible model. I think more recently, models have become a bit more realistic about how much money they can make, but I still remember in 2000 when a model told us she wanted six figures per year and only wanted to shoot 1x a month. She actually thought that plan would still have us slaying it and that we were just being greedy when we told her it wouldnt work.

opulence - Way ahead of you. Im getting both in for a couple of hours next week to shoot some stills and vids.

I would pay up front but I don't have that kind of budget to play around with really so partnership is the only way to go really at the minute.

My thoughts exactly. Have enough content to update for about a year before the site launches. Shoot as much as humanly possible and get releases for each and every shoot. A model that will stick around after the site launches is a rare find.

Cover all your bases and plan for the worst.

1000 divided by 30 days = 33 sales a day. a handful average 33 sales a day.

That's it. Pay upfront, no sharing, get as much content as you can...since she'll stop once she has a new boyfriend, finds god, her parents find out, her friends find out, etc. Girls like Alison Angel, Raven Riley are rarer than a whale in the desert.

um - she's suing her webmaster/partner and trying to destroy the website that made her a ton of money and semi-famous.

Except the last sentence... finding girls who want to destroy a website are not rare.... been in teen sologirl niche for the last 5 years and seen PLENTY of websites come and go...

Do exactly what is listed above.. Period. Don't let your dick decide or you'll end up paying for a very long long time.

Getting affiliates is easy. Getting affiliates that send traffic is another matter.

Marketing wise...

Lately I have seen a lot of webmasters opening sites where the webmaster ran a network of TGP/MGP's... The entire network got 800,000 hits a day. Figuring that was plenty of exposure for the websites they planned to open they didn't include affiliates in their business model.

This meant that no one besides for their own TGPs were going to even mention the new girls names...

Their TGP network did get 800,000 uniques a day for all of the sites but they also failed to noticed that they were their own top trades... So 40% of their traffic was indeed not unique at all...

So 480,000 surfers saw their girls... Now 20% of their traffic was bookmarkers... So take out some for the people that are not absolutely new exposures to their sites...

Of their top trades, 20% of their traffic is all bookmarkers too... So even traded traffic is not real new surfers...

So each day only 150,000 people are seeing their new sites in reality. Of those surfers some might be partial to blondes, brunettes, big tits, small tits, latinas, asians, etc...

You can see the problem already I assume...

Had they allowed affiliates they would have got the name of the girl and her likeness (thumbs) out there quicker. Had they had affiliates the domain name would have been in peoples minds and they might have typed it in... People type in milfhunter.com because they see the ads and shit all over the internet... not because they specifically saw it on Sublime Directory... But this other program didn't realize that fact...

They also did not buy any spots on big named TGPs...

So without any marketing they sold their sites to someone else as a last ditch effort to get some money back...

Lesson here is to look at the big picture... Affiliate sales might cost you 40% in your head but they are sales you would not have had otherwise so in effect they are only bringing in money. Also they are advertising even when sales don't come through them... via typins later...

Have a nice day.
