The Ring - Japanese version
On Kazaa there is a 700mb Japanese version of the ring. Crystal clear video, with clear easy to read subtitles.
I just thought if you wanted to watch the movie, you might want see the orginal first. Search for "ringu" BTW (for the moral police) i'm kidding about downloading from kazaa, I would never ever do that. ![]()

Normally, I'm a moralist with downloading movies from Kazaa, but in a case like this where the original is nearly impossible to get/find in the United States.......same with "Battle Royale"
I'm a huge fan of Japanese and Chinese cinema (I even did a whole article on Hong Kong cinema for SetGo). I feel badly for movie fans that haven't been exposed to some of these gems. Daring, low budget filmmaking, the likes of which we seldom see in the US. Everyone ooh's and ahh's over Chow Yun Fat movies (the American version they are familair with) and John Woo's American films, but precious few have seen these two really put out the type of movies they did early on. Classics like "The Killers" and "A Better Tomorrow" are heads and shoulders above anything either of them have done in this country so far. (except maybe "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" being the exception for Chow Yun Fat and "face/Off" for John Woo.) Most of these early classics I saw at a video store that specialized in obscure and hard to find movies, so I often had to watch these movies in chinese with no subtitles, but the stories were so powerful that it didn't matter if I couldn't understand them. Watch a movie like "Black mask" without the horrible dubbing (which to me, is more of a distraction) and watch this powerful asskicking chopsocky flick in it's purest form.

Or you could go to an online retailer (http://www.hkflix.com/) and buy the DVD.
But if you still insist on downloading the divx you really should use a better file-sharing program then Kazaa. If you want a real cache of Japanese and Korean movies use eDonkey2000. |

If you like HongKong movies, I would recommend some movies by Johnnie To. If you know of John Woo, you have to know Johnnie To.
The.Mission (2000) Running Out Of Time (1999) Longest Nite, The (1998) If you haven't seen this, please go to see it now. You won't regret it. That's the best! I had the vcd of those movies (there was no dvd at the time I bought them). Now the dvd should be available. You can try http://www.yesasia.com/ here is the link to Longest Nite, it's quite expensive though: http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.asp...ection=videos& |

Anyone else interested or wanting to get into Hong Kong cinema, I also highly recomend Tsai Hark's Chinese Ghost Story series....

And anyone who liked (the overrated) 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' should take the time to see two Jet Li martial arts masterpieces 'Once Upon a Time in China' and 'Fist of Legend'.

Even though Battle Royale, the movie, had some HUGE plot holes (too many to go over in one post), it was still a fantastic movie. I hear that the book it was based on has no plot holes and is better (duhh).
