I dont think you can judge it without knowing the circumstances, what was said, what went on. For one thing if the officer told him to stop and he continued to drive a motor vehicle is considered a weapon and if continuing to hit the gas that is quite illegal and yes would warrant action by the officer.

I guess it depends on what is actually going on. Can't really tell from the pic, but it's possible they tried to stop the vehicle and the driver looked to run the cop over if he didn't get out of the way. If that's the case, drawing your firearm is a reasonable reaction.

It could be a cop on a power trip or it could be a cop defending himself from being run over. Either way, sucks to live in Iowa right now.

I just saw it on the news.

They told him to stop, shit is under water. He kept trying to get past them, bumped the cop a few times with his truck.

They busted out his window, pulled him out, cuffed and stuffed and headed to jail in Jones county since the jail here is under water.

Half of my family are in law enforcement...2 of the handful of people that are my close friends are cops...
And I say fuck 'em. Everytime I have been pulled over or had any contact with a cop they are rude to me. They act like their shit doesn't stink and they let you know in no uncertain terms that they can treat you like a child and if you don't like it and say ANYTHING to them about it they will fuck you up.
You guys out there with family in law enforcement know what I'm talking about. My brother, my cousins, hell...even my mom have all told me that they LIVE for confrontation. They look forward to it, and if a day goes by that a cop doesn't get to legally fuck somebody up, it's a bad day for them. And when I say "fuck somebody up" I don't mean beat them...I just mean fuck them in any way that is possible. From a traffic ticket to just scaring the shit out of people.
It's understandable I guess. That cop in the picture is pulling a fucking loaded gun on a person because that person didn't "obey" him. I guess it's justified because that person would have been in danger driving to his flooded home. And he's not in danger by having a high strung cop pulling a loaded weapon on him?
I don't think that's what our founding fathers EVER had in mind in this country. And if it's okay for a cop to put a loaded gun in somebodies face because a car is a "weapon". Then tell me what would happen if one of us tried that same shit? We "order" somebody to not go to their home in a flood and then when that person tries to drive past us...we put a loaded gun in their face, bust their window out, drag 'em out, probably hurt them pretty badly and then put handcuffs on them.
You or me did that shit, we would be in prison for life. Yet a cop does it and it's all good?
Yeah, I know the stress they are under and it's a tough job. But my experience over the years and the stories from family and friends who are cops says: That cop relished doing that to that person, and later on drank beers with other cops and high-fived about it.
I think it sucks. We give them too much power.

Edit: I just noticed the military guy standing there watching sort of in disbelief.

The guy in the car essentially charged the cop with his vehicle. That doesn't warrant pulling a gun?

How do you know he's high strung? Or that a cop pulling his gun puts the man in danger?
I thought Americans were all "guns aren't dangerous with proper training" blah blah blah.
Wouldn't a cop have had proper training and then some?
I'm not a psychiatrist so perhaps it's just my inexperience in such matters talking, but I fail to see how you can judge whether or not he's high strung by that picture or that he's pulling his gun just to endanger the driver further.

Depends what "charging" the cop meant. We all know cops love to charge people with shit they didn't really do.

Does charge mean he tried to run the cop over, or does charge mean the guy was just trying to drive past the cop who told him to stop.

My bet would be the second, considering the guy likely just wanted to get to his house.

Just saw it on the news...The police are holding people out of their homes. The flood waters have receded and they had CNN camera crews following the police as they went home to home kicking the doors in! Then they go through every persons's house to assess the damage and determine if the building is stable!
Meanwhile they interviewed the people being held out of their own homes. THEY ARE PISSED!
I would be too. Can you imagine that? They are kicking people's doors in. I'm not kidding. And then going through their homes. I guess your jewelry is safe. I guess any cash you had there is safe. And I guess that stack of BBW hardcore that you didn't want anybody to know about won't now be laughed at around the community...What a bunch of bullshit.
Meanwhile they interviewed a guy being held outside who owns 12 homes in the community that he rents out. He was standing there with 20 guys from a construction crew he hired that are actually experts, instead of just cops deciding if a home is "stable", he had the real guys that can fix shit.
But they are all being held out.
He said that he couldn't believe what was being done by the city govt. and that he was going to make sure that everyone of them were voted out in the next election.
My wife made the comment of: "If they are going from home to home kicking in people's doors and rummaging through their homes...why didn't they just take the home owners in and have them open the door with the key since they are all being held on the outskirts of town anyway?"
Good question. But that wouldn't have allowed them to enter private property and order everyone around like dogs would it?
I would be infuriated to think that someone was in my home. Much less being held back while they kicked my damn door in. I would want to get in there and see what was left of my valuables. They were showing the cops busting the drywall in the homes with sledgehammers to "assess the damage" Unbelieveable.
So now the homeowners...when they are finally "allowed" to go back to their homes in this free country of ours...not only have to replace all the water damaged stuff, but they are going to have to replace their front doors, their walls, and of course say goodbye to any jewelry or loose cash that somehow comes up missing while they are being held back and strangers ransack their homes.
It ain't right.

Yeah really sucks ass when there is a major thing like flooding, and the cops have to come out, ( instead of being home with THEIR families ) and stand guard, in an effort to protect EVERYBODYS homes, as best they can, and then when something goes wrong, like a bunch of places get burglarized, they get in trouble.

Yeah let the dude through. he just wants to get home. Then he falls drowns, and the cops get sued for letting him through.

More to it than you think from just looking at a photo. or from watching the news.

I feel bad for the guy that is trying to get home, but also bad for the cops who are doing their jobs. Although pulling the gun on the guy is overkill. If he wants to go that bad, let him!

And if he had let him get through and something happened to the guy people would be going nuts on him too.
