BIZ thread - how many people are still submitting galleries ?

But the times have changed for sure. Anyone still making a living from it?

I dont think that you can make much of a living at it, at least not compared to before, but it will start things moving.

i know a few guys who submit 10-20 galleries every day.

We have affiliates who earn decent money from submitting custom made galleries. It is a fraction of what it used to be though.

Most of the guys have got into TGPs, MGPs and blogs in the meantime, tubes too now. Like I said though, a few only submit still, so if you know how to you can still make a living that way.

I used to submit 1-2 galleries/day ~2 years ago or so but I stopped.

The traffic was just not good enough and I wasn't getting much traffic even though I had many partner accounts at big TGPs.

I still think there's money in FHGs if you have the traffic.

Strange how not so long ago they were all asking for money to allow us the privilege of getting a gallery reviewed and now they are taking FHGs.

We have few affiliates submitting regular 1-2 gallery/day and made couple signups daily.
Money is still in that but you have to work much more then earlier and invest in good paid spots

I submit regularly . I also submit freesites to LL's for sales and targeted traffic. I dont think there as much money on the table anymore submitting to TGP's . Unless you are really good at cheating

I havent used picture or video content in years and years now. It got to be too much of a pain for me. I have all the scripts I need to just upload a fuckload of content and press a few buttons and pump out completed galleries, free sites, avs sites, fpas, you fuckin name it, completely hubbed niche pages all interlinked.

But when you have to pay to submit, and the window of acceptability can be super small.. pics too large, pics too small, not enough pics, too many pics, too many ads, ads not matching the niche in someones opinion, etc etc etc etc.. While at the same time self-listed FHG's can break all the rules.. it's just too much trouble frankly.

I even had a deal with a content provider way back when to get content before generally available to the puiblic and I'd submit and be rejected for "overused content".. I kid you not.. See, the problem was a reviewer had the same f'ing deal with the content provider and even though I'd submit within minutes of getting the content, he had it too and wanted to use it.. so REJECT for me (after spending all the money to try to simply get a leg up).

And none of that even touches the aspect of keeping proper 2257 records and filing my first borns dna in a fbi database or whatever exactly you guys need to do these days.. and having a killer host and servers with uncapped, unrestricted, unthrottled bandwidth for only a mere arm and leg a month.. checking it constantly from proxies around the world just to see if it's working.. oh god here comes the headache!!

My assistent submits around 5 galleries a day. I design them and handle everything around them. Just the galleries makes me an income that is several times a modal income.
I also do SEO and blogs making me another several times modal income.
We are far away from the poor house.

As a full time submitter I create 3-5 unique galleries a day, seven days a week. I am happy with the profit here in Hungary. I use Chameleon, but I disabled 80% of the sites in it... I photoshop my thumbs one by one, plus most of the sample thumbnails too.
Have some fine free partner accounts and of course a coupleof paid as well, host my galleries with MojoHost / Hello Brad! /.
I do run some small TGPs too, but I never have the time to learn how to use ST and AT3 script properly so they are making just a very few extra to cover my bills.

I take this job very seriously and always looking for kind sponsors to work with and Partners who are accepting my galleries for link back, money or free.

I stopped submitting in 2005, I can barely name one single big TGP accepting galleries from free submitters anymore besides The Hun

Ron2k1: There are some nice places. I consider free those places which have a one time application fee. Some of these are really nice. There's a guy named Lomik, he is running a bunch of TGPs which are all open for free submissions and they are providing very nice traffic. Toby, who is running some cool niche sites as "Well Heeled Women" and "Dressing for Sex" are also free to submit if you ask for a PA at him. His sites have fine traffic and he is a wise and nice man. But there are lot more with free PAs...

I never deny to pay for a PA which brings me sales. Sometimes I regret buying a pass because most of them are overpriced and their ROI is absolutely shit.

There are still tons of submitters out there. Hell, I even get many FreeSite submissions to my LinkLists these days, which is even more old-school I'd say.
But I'm missing lot's of the good old submitters from the past, many new guys these days, and lot's of crappy galleries that are barely able to compete with FHGs

I think submitting galleries is still a great way to get sales and for sponsors a great way to get more exposure for their paysites..

You mentioned something very important: the submitter's task is to compete with sponsor offered FHGs... Those guys who cal themselves submitters but do send copypasted FHGs or sponsor made templates have very few chance to get listed or make sales. Why would a TGP owner post a copypasted gallery template instead of getting it directly from the sponsor and making money with it without a third-party?

Nowadays, with most TGP/MGPs losing their traffic to tube sites, I would guess the majority of people buying spots and submitting galleries are Affiliate Programs and their inhouse employees. There are definitely some old school webmasters doing their best to make a living at submitting galleries, but times have changed. For 98% of webmasters, gallery submitting simply isn't as profitable as it used to be 6 or 7 years ago.

I practice photoshop every day, but still an amateur level...
Gallery submitting is profitable only for a very few ppl, because of reasons already listed in this thread. The pie example is not true anymore imo: submitters need to compete with FHGs and 95% of submitters fail this battle and give up or start cheating (and leave industry a little later) making it harder for the True Submitters who make serious efforts to have good results and reputation.

Paid passes is a cause for flaming each other on every adult board. My opinion is that its not a problem if I have to pay for a pass as far as its not "overvaluated:. For example a PinkWorld pass costs $59. You submit 30 galleries, ~20 will be accepted, you make 4 sales at least, its OK. But most of the paid passes are impossible to make a good ROI. I don't know what was 6-7 years ago, but I've heard a lot legends and its sure it was lot easier then.
About tube vs TGP/MGP: for MGPs the age of tube sites can result in a huge loss. For TGPs and picture galleries its not like that imo. I prefer making picture galleries, I have several reasons:
- easier to make a nice unique gallery: much more variations, layouts, its up to your fantasy
- if a surfer gets horny looking at your picture gallery and sees that besides the HQ pics the site is offering HD videos, he is willing to pay to watch the scene made him so horny on video as well.
- I experience no big difference between the conversion of a movie and a picture gallery, but movie gallery burns much more bandwidth so will cost you more.

As an enthusiastic amateur I am still learning a lot every single day because even if I am happy with my results I do know that I know shit about the whole adult biz, so there's a long way and several months/years until I can say I understand this industry very well.

Submitting is a kind of entry level I know... This is why I'm monitoring trends and forums
