Puter Choice ( tough one )
What would you choose and why: 13'3 mac book + 20" flat screen ( $2k) or 17" MAc Book Pro ($3k)? ( consider al the sys parameters the same ) P.S.: this is not a marketing puter research

				 | Depends on the specs. Nether the Book, or the Pro are very expandable beyond RAM and a new HD.

I'm not 100% sure why you want to go Mac, now; they're virtually hardware identical to PCs; yes, MacOS is nice, but you're talking about $3k difference for the same sized machine that does the same basic work. Unless you absolutely hate Windows, I'd just get a PC.

From all the PCs i used i can say that Vaio is the one to choose. Im happy about Vaio. If there was no Mac i would get my next 17" (1440x900) Vaio for $1,800 no questions again. But I desperately wanted to try Mac. Thats why I thought I might wanna try buying a $1500 mac book and $300-400 decent Flat screen to use it in the office, so I would get a nachine that can be used as office and easy to carry around on travels and visiting clients. Thats $1800. 3k 17" Mac Book Pro is fucking killer, actually Vaio of that poer goes close, $2800, so choosing this BIG $$ for a tool aint easy.

				 | Do you need the mobility of the laptop? We have a Macbook, a Macbook Pro, a Mac Pro and two 21'' iMacs. I'd be hardpressed to pick between any of them. They all handle certain jobs and they all do their job well. I'd recommend any of them, depending on the specific task. If you're using them for your design work, I'd go with the Mac Pro and the bigger screen. Working in Photoshop on the small 15'' widescreen can be a pain in the ass. The Mac Pro would probably be my favorite because of the fact you can add so much to it. |

I design on both OS X at home and XP at work. OS X always gives me problems with colors.. XP never.. Definately go 15" the screen is amazing and you can use it for photoshop the 1400x900 resolution is why you want the 15" and not the 13"

If you just want to 'try it out', I'd go for a cheaper, but decent spec MacBook Refurb - you'll spend a lot less, it looks brand new and has a year warranty. Save a grand and buy me a drink sometime.
