I'm not 100% sure why you want to go Mac, now; they're virtually hardware identical to PCs; yes, MacOS is nice, but you're talking about $3k difference for the same sized machine that does the same basic work. Unless you absolutely hate Windows, I'd just get a PC.

Okay, here it is.
From all the PCs i used i can say that Vaio is the one to choose. Im happy about Vaio.
If there was no Mac i would get my next 17" (1440x900) Vaio for $1,800 no questions again.
But I desperately wanted to try Mac. Thats why I thought I might wanna try buying a $1500 mac book and $300-400 decent Flat screen to use it in the office, so I would get a nachine that can be used as office and easy to carry around on travels and visiting clients.
Thats $1800.
3k 17" Mac Book Pro is fucking killer, actually Vaio of that poer goes close, $2800, so choosing this BIG $$ for a tool aint easy.
