SEO and blogs on sub domains

Does it matter to Google if a blog is on a sub domain? I own the domain. I was thinking about one domain with many subs each having a blog. Also, do the blog directories accept blogs on sub domains?

My experience in adult blogging says that Google loves more blogs on the main domain preferably with unique IP. If you add to that few good hardlinks and a regular update, it will be a winner.
Most of BD's accept blogs on subdomains.

just buy a new domain, they are too cheap not to

and unless you are splogging and creating thousands of blogs a day, or have an amazing domain like pornblog.com so you can do amateur.pornblog.com, it just isn't worth it

there are a ton of "domain.freeblogservice.com" type domains in the engines that do quite well....if you establish a free blog service open to other users, you'll be much better off when you create your own on that domain : )

for custom "free blog service" script sales....like blogger.com, feel free to contact me

I have a domain with hubdreds of bogs (using wordpress MU), no problem with Google whatsoever, about the blog direcoties - not so sure, I have one myself and I'll list 3-4 blogs but if you start submitting 100s of bogs on the same domain I'd probably stop listing them

There were some slight changes how google treats subs recently, meaning that you can't dominate the serps with multiple subs from the same domain any more.

If you have a popular domain, adding subs to take advantage of the strength of the domain is certainly a good idea. There are some big TGP networks around doing this with loads of success...but long term a bunch of domains on different IPs is certainly more reliable.

Just don't put too many eggs in one basket, a mixture works perfectly.

Exactly. About a half of a year ago Google has changed this policy.

yeah, but I can almost guarantee you that if you add a new blog to thumblogger.com Google will give you more love (and faster) than if you start a new blog on a new domain, so I guess there are pros and cons
