Saw the movie "The Rules of Attraction" last night. I think most of you are sufficiently demented enough to like it. I did.

Read "American Psycho" by the same author, Bret Easton Ellis. But don't watch that stupid fucking Hollywood movie based on the book. It really fucking sucked.

I remember when American Psycho came out - caused a shit load of uproar so I thought I would read it - very good book. So I'm reading it on the subway when I get to the part where he is in a restraunt with some model chicks and he is talking about how airheadeed they are and they start to discuss the solar system - this part is very funny and I started laughing - couldn't help it - it was really funny - well you should have seen the looks I was getting from some of the other passangers on the train - there were people who wanted this book banned because of the violence - I just thought it was really good and really funny - it was after all nothing more than a satirical look at life in the decadent '80's.

Yeah, it made me laugh a lot. Some people couldn't get past the few scenes of graphic violence which is a shame because like you say it's a great fucking satire. Here in Queensland in Australia they sold the book shrinkwrapped and you had to be over 18 to buy it.

Speaking of books that made me laugh, has anyone read "Hollywood" by Charles Bukowski. Shit that's a funny book.

One thing I never figured out about American Psycho was whether or not all the information flying about in Patrick Bateman's head was supposed to be accurate. There were literally hundreds of food and fashion and even music references that were out of my realm of knowledge, so I don't know if they were accurate. But there were at least two things I caught that were definitely wrong.

I like to think Bateman was just totally deluded about everything (it seems to fit), but it's also plausible that he was so into the shallow details that he had it all memorized.

I saw 'Rules' last night.. decent movie but whoever did the editing needs to lay off the drugs. There were parts that just DRAGGED on for fuck all's sake.. geez. I hate being in a movie looking at my watch going "When is this fucking thing going to be over with?"

I saw Rules' last week, I thought it was a great picture...Roger Avary is one talented cat. It had the same loopy, disconnected feeling as 'Killing Zoe' (his last picture) not to mention a killer soundtrack and the film actually made the crappy novel coherent.

If your idea of fun is to watch a bunch of airheaded, always-high-on-something products of the US de-education system, have bad sex and barf on each other, you probably liked The Blair Witch Project, too. Both movies are best viewed when made stupid by some kind of psychotropic substance.

I'll start things off;
