what is good member retention 50%???

for a paysite, what is the minimum member retention that you need to make sure that you are running a profitable site.... say if you had 3000 new members every month and you kept 1500 so 50% and that would stay consistent and slowly they would cancel, but if you kept 50% then that would be really good i would think... can anyone shed some light on this for me?

profit = gross revenue - costs

Do the math and if revenue is greater than cost then yes.

Some sites do 80% retention.

yeah i noticed that i forgot to mention the profit minus the exspense factor. so i guess that you could say a well optimized site with 30-40% retention could do well.... but what about with high res and not all that hardcore shit... will do alright? hi res is sweet and the quality of the pics good... but then again i guess that you are marketing to a different client pool. any ideas on softcore high res with movies??

I dont have much luck with pretty girls in softcore even if they are awesome.
I do well though with unique niches.BBW, natural big tits things like that if you have high quality content and good looking women in those niches.

so your sayin that even if the girl is a bombshell and there is a lot of content then i cannot retain the members long enough. but it seems to me that this is a good niche just knowing that the surfer is looking at something that he is hopeing for. he may never get it but if he keeps coming back then someday that girl will be on my site and he will love me for it... maybe not but i do see how the hardcore is the way to go to solve the urge for what i want is what i get when i click this link. no imagination, plain and simple i am fucking this girl.

Totally depends on your costs and new sign on rate. Hell, even a retention rate of 1% maybe ok assuming that you have super low costs and high enough new sign on levels. The extra income from exits, upsells, and cross sells are just gravy at that point.
