Depends on how good they are at it. Base pay? Probably somewhere around 30k, as mentioned.

$15 an hour (assuming it's a 8 hour work, 5 times a week, 22 weekdays/month).

It really varies GREATLY depending on the company you work for and your own experience. I think that $35,000 a year base pay plus performance bonuses may be acceptable for very small programs but I also know some of the larger programs over the years have offered $100,000+ a year as a base to webmasters with more experience. Especially those who have been around 10 years or more.

After "Training" (Read: You work for less than minimum wage for a few months to defer the 'costs' of 'training' you), they claim you can earn ~$10/hr.

5.25 to 15.00 per hour base depending on location of store, state, etc. That is starting rates as well. Where I am at the base starting pay is 8.00.

depends if you're a board whore or an ACTUAL member of a team who brings in business. 2500 a month would be a total insult to me, for example.

So it's pretty much safe to say that some affiliate managers earn as much as a McDonalds manager?

No wonder so many are completely useless.

Never worked at McDonalds or any fast food place but I have owned and operated my share of retail stores and I would venture that managing a McDonalds would be a pain in the ass and stressful. Extremely high traffic operations, large amounts of small cash transactions, dealing with 30+ teenagers or barely speaking English immigrants, huge employee turnover, dealing with food in general, ordering, huge corporate structure to follow etc.

Here in Vegas they advertise $45k - $60k starting plus benefits and bonuses for an experienced fast food manager. I sure as hell know I wouldnt want to do it.

That being said I think $30k for an affiliate manager is insulting as well. Unless its a brand new operation and they have options or big incentive bonuses based on performance. You either have to go with a high starting base and small bonuses or a small base and larger bonuses.

Exactly how does base pay in a sales job equate to how good you are at your job or if you are useful or not? That's pretty much an unnecessary and unwarrented insult to all of us who are affiliate managers.

1/4 Americans have, at one time, worked at McDonalds.
Everyone has to start somewhere. It doesn't mean they suck at their job, it just means they haven't moved beyond that yet.

That was not directed to anyone in particular.

And you are telling me that you don't see a relation between salary and capacity? You've got to be kidding me.

In most sales jobs the base is not where you are making your money. Commission is used as an incentive. So base pay is sort of irrelevant to the discussion.

Besides what does it even matter what any of us are making and why do you need to know? Why would you even ask?

He answered above. He wanted to know why so many were useless. He figured it was a reflection of their pay. Makes sense doesn't it? If a program pays their employee well, they probably get a higher caliber affiliate manager.

My guess is an average of around $50k.

The better ones make more, obviously. The entry level is probably around $35k.

Most don't manage anything. Most know nothing about the internet, traffic, code, cookies... hell even some don't know how links work.

Fact is you get what you pay for. These new guys that pop up most likely make zip.

Like ANY JOB Experience matters and the more Experience you have the more you will make...

also like any JOB results matter...

your Experience and Results should be your salary/bonuses

starting webmaster job $30-$50k year
starting affiliate managers $70-100k year

I doubt it is even 35K a year.
Seems everyone that ever wanted me to rep for them wanted me to work for free and get commissions. Shit if I wanted fucken commission only I would have already signed up dumb ass.

Of course its a tell em to fuck off situation.
Tap my traffic and my contact lists yeah... Eat a dick.

My contact list is bigger than most affiliates databases and they want me to work for free? Shove off. 35K a year? Fuck off.

Most affiliate reps can not even design and the most skill they exhibit is being a dipshit on public boards. I found more money in partnering up with Traffic Companies or people that have traffic, fuck the affiliate rep situation altogether.

As far as I am concerned it is untrained labor.

Example.
Webmaster contact affiliate rep.

Affiliate rep says: Hey whats up?
Webmaster says: You guys are not converting for me.
Affiliate Rep says: Let me see what you are doing. ( Now keep in mind the Affiliate rep normally has no fucking clue about traffic and suggest stupid shit like replacing banners, here try this Gay banner on this teen blog! Is about the best they can come up with.

( Now the canned response comes a day later if at all after adjusting the shave ratio )
Affiliate Rep: I checked with our techs everything is working fine, stats are fine. Want to try our new banners?
Webmaster says: Ok. Hey! Its a miracle my stats improved I sent less traffic and even got more signups!
Affiliate Rep says: I was totally drunk at the webmaster event you are a bro to hang with!
Webmaster says: Yeah was good times.
Affiliate Rep says: Hey make a thread on GFY for our amazing program!

So on and so forth. Lame...

The question is about SALARY - base pay. Forget commissions, bonus's, the kitchen sink, the up and coming stuff you will profit on we are now building that will never end up happeneing we're just getting you excited so you'll take the job for next to nothing now bullshit.

Yes, there *might* be a relation, but correlation is not causation.

There are plenty of "useless" people that get paid 10 times the salary of McDonald's employees. There are also plenty of "useful" people that get paid minimum wage.

Making blanket generalizations doesn't prove a point. What it proves is you've had bad experiences with certain people.

The salary is only part of the job. Bonuses, commissions, other incentives, insurance packages, etc.

All these people acting all shocked and surprised at the salaries being listed here... Why are you so surprised? How much did you expect the average affiliate rep to make? I mean every company has a ton of them, there must be hundreds... It's basically an entry level job.

Honestly if someone got paid 6 figures to support the program's affiliates I'd be horrified.

A true guess, based on previous threads that have been asked and answered are....

Little to no experience, $24k + incentives.
