I am buying a pc with no software on it at all. Im just wondering, besides an OS what software is a must have. In the past i've always just bought computers that came with a bunch of software so I'm not really sure what I might be missing that I can't think of.

Well, what are you trying to do with it? Picture editing? Video? Just office stuff?
Do you want to spend any money or want to go the mostly free route?

my 2 cents

the easy way - Windows XP w/ SP2 (not Vista), Microsoft Office, AVG - antivirus.

or Windows XO w/SP2 (not Vista), Open Office (which is Free), AVG (which is free)

or run Linux (Unbuntu - FREE), Open Office (Free)

then the rest is free plugins, and patches - your prob. covered. Thats the very minimal.

If your in the design and dev side - get Adobe Master Collection CS3, thats about all youll need.
