How and why? I can see “serving in Iraq, serving with Marines” but whole “protecting our freedom” really confuses me. May be I just didn’t get a note in my mail.

I have nothing against the military, have some family who are or were servicemen, including my dad who was a long time Marine. I do, however, have a problem with the governments foriegn military policy but that is a different debate.

That said people like yourself who talk about how everyone else is "pussies" and yet never served a day in the armed forces make me laugh and annoyed at the same time. Unfortunately, "defending the country" is not as clear cut as you imply.

Things changed after 9/11 and it became clear there was less margin for error with our national security, and less tolerance for menacing dictators.
