A. I know how the tax bracket works. I have to pay it. I just used an average % of federal/state taxes that someone of reasonable middle class status might pay. I didnt think you would need a detailed breakdown on GFY.
B. You said you were buying the TV. I made the assumption you earned over minimum wage.
C. I also made the assumption that if you were spending $1k on a TV you must have some disposable income and thusly are in at least a bracket where you have to pay income tax. If someone who is spending $1k on a new TV does not fit into this category they shouldnt be purchasing the TV and I could care less that they are being screwed.
D. Say someone earned $85,000 and according to your numbers had to pay 10% in Federal Income tax. I dont know the numbers off hand but lets also go with 5% in state tax, assuming you live in a state where you have to pay it. (side note: another great reason to live in NV). So overall your paying 15%. If your current state sales tax is at 7% and you had $1k to spend you would be able to buy a $930 TV. If you didnt have to pay your 15% fed and state income taxes you would have $1150 to spend. That $1150 would get you the same $930 TV with a national 25% sales tax added on.

That is why your example of buying something is a bad example. Because proponents of a national sales tax argue that it would end up as the same current tax rate but only tax you when you spend the money, versus when you earn it.

I swear you are stupid. Do REAL math. The national sales tax is in ADDITION to state sales tax and state income tax. You example assumes state income taxes and slaes taxes would be bannished which they wouldn't.

Also try READING my example. $1000 is $1000 if I only have $1000 for a TV you can't magically find another $150, $200, $300 or whatever stupid amount you idiots want to come up with. Apples to Apples not oranges dummy. I'm done talking to you. Either learn or STFU. I'm posting FACT, LOGIC and REASON if you choose to ingore those then it points to keep talking to you.

Personally I hope all you dumb motherfuckers get you national sales tax so our country can go into another depression and I can rub it in your face. Just as I predicted Bush would fuck things up 8 years ago. Well guess who is right. sometimes dumbasses have to learn the HARD way. Why, when it's easier to just admit "Hey I was wrong. I see your point. Thank for leading me to the correct point of view" who knows.

You're talking out of your ass again. The vast majority of proponents of a national sales tax want that tax to replace ALL taxes, not just federal. They want a 20-35% national sales tax, excluding basic goods and services. It's one of the main reasons opponents say it will fail. That is the bureaucracy saved from the IRS would be replaced by the bureaucracy of distributing the funds.

But if you're talking about a national tax just instead of the federal income tax the math still applys. You cannot use an example and only choose the math portions that fit your argument. $1k in the first example is not $1k in the second example you dumbass. If you have $1k available to purchase a TV you have already paid your taxes on that gross income. Whether it be a 1% tax, 10% tax or 1,000% tax. If you remove the tax then you would have additional funds available to buy the TV. If you blow that extra $$ that didnt go to taxes on hookers and blow and not towards your new TV you have to take the newfound hookers and blow into the equation. You cant just conveniently leave it out of the math.

And secondly for the third god damn time I never said the national sales tax is a good idea nor that I was in favor of it. My point was the example you gave is a fucked up pointless one.

Perfect if it's in addition to a small flat tax.

Really?, I'm sorry too. :(

Will these creative ways you speak of survive an audit???

You know, you can write whatever you want to on your tax return, doesnt mean anything until you get audited :2 cents:

:1orglaugh

I've been through an audit and came out just fine.

All an audit does is make sure the info you provided to them is correct. If all your ducks are in a row, there is no problem. Again, there is nothing illegal about being smart about your taxes. THEY write the tax code, and we work within it. It's not about what you write on your tax return, it's about how you structure your business and take FULL ADVANTAGE of every loophole they allow you to have.

If you don't want to take the time to educate yourself on how to lower your tax burden, then that's on you and you should just keep paying out huge sums to the IRS.

I mean... I send in a tax payment and how does that money go from the mail room at the IRS to actually paying interest on the National Debt??

You really need to read the Grace Commission Report. This is a real report, given to Regan, per his request, as a study in regards to waste and inefficiency in the government. They found out exactly where our income tax dollars went. This is not a conspiracy theory story.

I know it's not an easy pill to swallow, but the American people have bee lied regarding how their tax dollars are spent.

* You should read the real report, but I'll post the Wiki info for you to give you a start:

In 1982, President Ronald Reagan requested an investigation into waste and inefficiency in the Federal government. For this purpose, he initiated a Private Sector Survey on Cost Control, or PSSCC, generally known as The Grace Commission, and asked the members of that commission to: "Be bold. We want your team to work like tireless bloodhounds. Don't leave any stone unturned in your search to root out inefficiency."[1]

The Grace Commission Report was presented to Congress in January 1984. The Report claimed that if its recommendations were followed, $424 billion could be saved in three years, rising to $1.9 trillion per year by the year 2000. It estimated that the national debt, without these reforms, would rise to $13 trillion by the year 2000, while with the reforms they projected it would rise to only $2.5 trillion.[2]

The Report said that one-third of all income taxes is consumed by waste and inefficiency in the Federal Government, and another one-third escapes collection due to the underground economy. "With two-thirds of everyone's personal income taxes wasted or not collected, 100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the Federal debt and by Federal Government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services which taxpayers expect from their Government."

The Congress did not act on the recommendations. As of February 2008, the national debt is $9.3 trillion (or $30,000 per U.S. citizen).

So basically all the taxpayers that paid in 10's and 100's of thousands of dollars are doing it because they are ignorant and don't know about DirtyWhiteBoy's system to get out of paying taxes?

I'm taking time now to ask you to post some of your tax saving loopholes here? Educate us. If they are are legal then what's the big deal? post away

I will epassporte you a decent sum if you lay it out for me. I get reamed every year.

Death taxes seems dumb as fuck and sure it is a double tax but when do you want to pay taxes? Now or later? The govt still needs to collect the same amount. The first 600k or maybe higher now is exempt and it is 50% after that. A million dollar inheritance nets you 800k. You did nothing for this cash but have a parent that was smart. To me that is a great time to pay the tax.

And don't give me the family farm shit. You get a 2 million dollar farm and you now owe 700k to the US for it. Sell it, farm it or do whatever but don't whine that you can't make a go of it. The average age of inheritance is over 48 years old. You should ahve your own shit going by then so this is extra.
