Second Life - OpenSim - Prepare for the future?.. Join Us
Are Virtual Sex Worlds the future? Are they a marketing tool that must be researched? Are they just a fun way for the company to blow off some steam with some benefits?
Hello, I have been involved with the OpenSim project since I was playing SL and the Lindens pissed me off with their pathetic and horrible business practices.. I wouldnt invest a dime in their world, however OpenSim has given us a chance to still enjoy a bit of this strange and exicting aspect of life. Anyhow, OpenSim is an open source software project based on SL and I am really interested in getting an ADULT ONLY grid started. Would'nt it be be so cool to get a bunch of sponsors involved in this and create a tripped out world in virtual adult reality... It's being done by others out there who are going to steal your thunder in time to come. So how about taking a peek into what this was about and pledge your support? I am seeking others out there who are interested and want to get together and create this new grid by sponsoring regions etc inside of it, where they can build their network and virtual world of sex and entertainment, promote their companies / products / services, and figure out what else can be done... I do want to mention that this OpenSim software is basically a END ALPHA state (not even beta) software and has its problems, as well as things just not even programmed yet.. I just want everyone to be aware of that as basically it means world instability and a bunch of features just not yet existant yet as compared to SL. It is however being upgraded daily with all kinds of SL features being put into place as well as new features SL does not have.. One in particular of interest would be the importing of meshes for object use... If you are at all interested I am guessing the cost would be somewhere around $100 for a region per month (I will not be hosting this at a cheap noc, i like my comfort and stability) This is still yet to be determined/discussed. Questions you might have is what is a region? A region is a bit over 65,000m in virtual land. and has the ability to show 15,000 prims if I recall correctly.. a prim is a primitive object, a building block of everything created in the virtual world. From my understanding that we need a beefy server for every 2 sims (regions), and a super database server, an asset server, and a some links for the ones who are curious and want to know more http://www.opensimulator.org http://www.realxtend.org/ and yes you can download the opensource code/binaries for nix, windows and run stand alone simulators for playing around with to see if this interests you at all This is a very LONG TERM project/idea, so if you are not in a stable enviroment, no need to pledge your assistance at this time, this will be a "fun lets see what we can do" founders project. Anyone interested in this idea, please contact me for more details and a chat place we can setup to discuss this in more detail and answer your questions.. cute, so i guess we need the OpenIBM plugin to make money... I'll get right on that!
IBM is a big time supporter of this Virtual World Stuff... They have the same visions I see, now its just about putting it out on the table..

These virtual games/worlds are very popular over here in the UK but have had some negative publicity just lately in the news, but I think there is big potential now and in the future with these types of virtual worlds because they are so interactive.

hehe, have you ever done business with Linden Labs? They are the definition of "SNOB"
If you become a problem, such as even a billing problem on their side by their own fault, they will throw you to the curb, And since its the realy only place you can conduct a evaluation, whatever research you have is complete garbage, considering a. linden labs can't keep up with userbase b. they have nothing but problems because they suck c. most of their service is free, and they are ballooning thru the roof in revenues

hehe you would be suprised what people play on the net. I was suprised at the amount of people who play text based rpgs and how much money they can generate for such a simple game with hardly any graphics but its the interactivity that keeps them playing.

I saw this SL on 60minutes. You can buy a space ship for $40,000 real US dollars. That's insane. $150,000 real USD for a planet. But to get to the planet you need to buy a ship ($40) or buy a ticket on one from someone who has a $40k ship.
Another guy opened up a club. $80k USD. It's $10 to walk into his club and $50 USD for a bottle of virtual champain. He said no one has purchased a bottle yet. Another couple have cyber sex and they site right next to each other while their virtual bodies fuck. Quote " It's more exciting then the real thing". God I feel sorry for them. Jesus Christ. What is wrong with these people?
