Dowtrade.com - appraise my domain :)

Hi. I want to ask if there's any experienced domain traded, especially with non-adult trades done.

I've seen someone asking 10,000 EURO at SEDO for dow-trade.com .

Can I ask how much value does dowtrade.com?
It's quite short, meaningful, memorable, 2 keywords, .com

If anyone interested, I can sell it :D

It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Ask a million and put it on Sedo

I think nobody will go for it at that price :D
Sedo have gazillions of domains and far less buyers.

Well said, domains are only worth as much as what someone will pay.. so its not worth anything until you get an offer..

10k for dow-trade.com

dowtrade.com is kinda worthless...
- probably gets very little type in traffic
- it's not really very brandable, sure it's a 2 word domain, but "dow" is a stupid keyword...
if it was something like forextrade.com or optionstrade.com, it would be worth quite a bit... but "dow" and "trade" just don't really go well together..

I probably wouldn't even register it for $8, unless my intention was to find some sucker who doesn't know any better to buy it from me for $100...

Potential TM problems come to mind... not necessarily from Dow Jones, but rather DOW Chemical.

With that said there appear to be other entities using "dow" and "trade" together in various business contexts so TM issues may not be a showstopper, but one to be aware of.

Does it get traffic? -if so, what kind? / revenues?

Whether it does or doesn't, have you received inquiries about the domain?

Lots of variables ... valuing domains is very much an art; who and how it's marketing it can make a world of difference in the amount one gets.

My guess is it has a negative value.

Domains with potential trademark liability can easily have a negative value. The average trademark lawsuit costs $250,000.

Even real estate can have a negative value, for example, if it is contaminated and the cleanup costs more than the land is worth.

I have alot of experience with domains. I was also a licensed real estate broker years ago.

Check for live TM's before saying something.

Dow is too common to be able to have TM.

Many common words are TMed, and are often quite enforceable.

With that said, a TM owner does NOT have automatic rights to acquire the related domain names, BUT has a lot of leverage (ie. UDRP strongly favors TM owners) in acquiring / restricting how others use them.

The US PTO Trademark database is NOT a glorified whois.

An unregistered (common law) TM (ie. not registered here and/or is in another country(s); TM owner does business in the same place where the registrant and/or registrar is located) can be problematic too ... or more often, a TM variant that one has ignored / overlooked.

And in regards to database status ... one should check all statuses, because a "dead" TM refers to the *registration* NOT the actual TM, which may still be in use / enforceable; can be revived in some instances. Furthermore, some "dead" TMs are referenced in other TM "live" registrations.
