List of US companies that have laid off employees
Is anyone aware of a site or a resource that shows which US companies have issued layoffs since the economy has soured?
This could and I hope should include companies pulling their interests in the US like DHL. I know the list is far more cumulative than just the layoffs that were announced today. Home Depot 7k jobs lost Caterpillar 20k jobs lost John Deere 700 jobs lost Sprint 8k jobs lost GM 2k more jobs lost Texas Inst. 3400 jobs lost Microsoft Intel All announced layoffs today. There are many many more. I still haven't been able to locate a site that has them all as they pile up. Anyone seen anything? Thanks |

If we used the real numbers and not the odd ball adjusted to rules pulled out of politicians asses I am positive we are already way above 10%.

Yeah most of those look to be fortune 50 type co's. We'll probably see another 500k+ month like last. Next month when the retail chains have to start reporting their earnings is going to be the real bloodbath.

Doesn't take into account companies with smaller work forces that are therefor not required to publicize the layoffs. Many states and local municipalities have laws stating that layoffs of certain sizes or from companies of a certain size must inform them that they are about to get slammed by welfare and unemployment.
Think of the 100,000's of mom and pops that laid off 1 to 10 employees. Makes that number look small... |

I don't know if that is true about the malls?, I just came back from two big malls here in the valley and they were very slow. I know it is a Monday, but there was hardly anyone there. I saw a lot of 50-70% off sales.
What I see happening here is if you have money, you are going to hold on to it. I think the days of going out and spending your money on non essential items are over. Unless your a porn chick who just got paid $2,000 for a shoot and now goes to Melrose Ave and buys a $2,000 purse ![]() |

I wonder if anyone is thinking about Landscaping / Construction jobs, getting back to the real work that pays decent money and currently is in a large way going to the illegals that are willing to work.
We just have to much fluff jobs, and not enough real hard work going on. |

I smell a new world oder coming one of these days. I truly hope not, I am glad we have millions of firearms here. It is just very troubling times we are living in. I don't see a way out of this.
This truly a global problem that we are facing now. |

This is a GOOD idea for a site that might BLOW UP with mainstream traffic. You may want to check fuckedcompany.com -- I haven't checked it in a while but it used to track tech companies. Techcrunch.com also has a dot com layoff counter.
However, since your idea is for ALL industries, you might want to build a site based on this, layer in social networking and forums so the members generate the content. If you need help promoting it, I offer manual directory submissions, social bookmarking, article submissions, and mainstream forum seeding ![]() |

Yesterday in my area GM (general motors) went from 3 shifts to 1, Delphi (auto parts supplier) cut another 99 jobs on top of the hundreds they've already cut this year. A company called AJAX (the made specialty casts and dies) Got rid of half of their work force........and the worst sign of all, Jakes Bar, the local watering hole has closed their doors for the last time. When the bars start to close, your screwed.
