Al Gore may be the Democrat candidate after brokered convention

Interesting stuff....

Interview with US Rep. Tim Mahoney (D)

http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2008/mar/...re-led-ticket/

---------
And if neither Sen. Hillary Clinton nor Sen. Barack Obama has clinched the nomination by August, Mahoney says we may see a brokered convention, meaning the nominee could emerge from a negotiated settlement.

"If it (the nomination process) goes into the convention, don't be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket," Mahoney said.

A compromise candidate could be someone such as former vice president Al Gore, Mahoney said last week during a meeting with this news organization's editorial board.

If either Clinton or Obama suggested to a deadlocked convention a ticket of Gore-Clinton or Gore-Obama, the Democratic Party would accept it, Mahoney said.

Global Warming is perhaps the biggest fraud in the history of mankind.

I would never vote for Bill Clinton's little boy. Al Gore showed no leadership as VP, NONE.

Adlai Stevenson in 1952, Thomas Dewey in 1948 and in 1932 Franklin Roosevelt. However I think Roosevelt was the only one to go on and win in the general election.

Let me guess, we need more VP's like Dick Cheney.

Fact is, Bill Clinton was a very strong leader and didn't need Gore as a crutch to lean on like Bush needs Cheney.

Frontline has a special running on PBS called Bush's War. Everyone should check it out. In it they talk about the decision to go into Iraq and how it ultimately came down to Bush kicking everyone out of the room except for Cheney. At what point does a VP have too much power?

Al Gore was the typical low key VP. There is nothing wrong with that.

Leave it to the Democrats to figure out a way to eliminate the possibility of success in an election that should have been a slam dunk.

You mean like the billions of dollars that have been wasted on the Kyoto scam, the billions of dollars that are going to be collected in the form of carbon taxes, the billions of dollars spent subsidizing the biofuels industry and the billions of dollars spent by all levels of government on "green" initiatives?

And what about when they start charging you a recycling fee for those CFL bulbs because of the mercury in them? They may not be so money saving then.

Here's a bunch of Democrat supporters in San Franfreakshow taking to the streets and calling for revolution:

http://www.zombietime.com/iraq_war_f...rsary_protest/

Too bad that the revolution they are calling for is of the Communist kind and they use every typical leftist cause as a rallying point.

The only delusional tripe about global warming comes from Al Gore and his band of alarmist disciples who are all trying to get rich by selling the lie. I wonder where all of these doomsday preachers and believers are going to hide when their fraud is finally revealed.

Global warming stopped 10 years ago and in fact there has been a slight global cooling over that same time. This past year has been one of the coldest and snowiest on record. Global cooling is a far bigger threat than global warming is.

People who are willing to read more to educate themselves before jumping to the same conclusions as the alarmists will find the following sites helpful:

that would be a winner combination that many would support, especially considering the recent news on both Hilary and Obama... and it would be good for Obama to learn the ropes as a VP

Of course I'm not saying it didn't happen. It's the "why" it happened that should be questioned. And even if it did happen because of global warming, the cause of global warming must also be questioned.

If you would read some of the links I posted you would see that the sensationalism inherent in the news is very often greatly misleading.

I'll be sure to give each of those link due consideration at a time that I'm not working, but let me say now that I'm not an alarmist. I'm merely someone that's been paying attention to what the peer-reviewed scientific community has had to say on the matter for the last 30 years.

Nearly all of the evidence gathered in that forum points to the fact that we're in a state of warming, and have been for quite some time. I know there are some politicians and people that might be painting a more dramatic picture than really exists, but that doesn't mean we should totally disregard the science behind the conclusion in reaction to any feelings of being duped by those dramatists.

I guess I was incorrect in saying I'm not an alarmist... because, in a sense I am... it bothers me, to a significant degree, that people seem to disregard peer-reviewed articles on scientific matters over that of what a blogger or start-up program or even single scientist (often sponsored by big oil) might have to say on the matter... and, being a scientifically-minded individual interested in the acquisition of knowledge, I feel it's my duty to sound the alarm when I witness what I consider the dispersal of blatant misinformation, contrary to what science is really telling us.

Though I've been keeping an eye on the science of global climate change for well over 20 years now (the subject first struck my interest as a kid in Jr. High), I've recently done some extensive old-school fact-digging on the subject: I went to the Los Angeles Central Public Library to perform research on an scientific research paper I was writing in relation to the status quo of the Polar Bear a few years ago (before Mr. Gore's movie), and the amount of data that's there - in their science department - on the subject of global climate change, collected over the last few decades, fills up shelves upon shelves upon shelves. I also skimmed over countless periodicals: papers and articles published in peer-reviewed journals - many of which touched on or dwelt on the idea that the climate is currently in a state of change and, overall, is engaged in a warming trend. All in all, I must have spent some 120 hours in hard research.

In all that time, honestly, I can't recall a single paper or shred of peer-reviewed information that said the Earth was not warming, or what mankind is doing is having no affect on the state of his environment. However, as I said, there was plenty of information saying things are getting warmer, and even more saying that man is affecting his environment _at least_ to peril of other species.

One downfall of the internet, I think, is it spreads disinformation just as quickly as it can spread any other type of information. Much as I intend to go over those articles you linked, I'd encourage you to find peer-reviewed sources that back up the assertion that the climate is not in a state of significant warming...

or simply go to a central library and check the experience out for yourself.

What the hell are you talking about?

I watched a great documentary about the truth about the drug war. Combine that with the truth about the American industrial complex. It seems the Govn't is sticking it to the lower middle class and minorities in a sort of round a bout ethnic cleansing. The jail system, felonization of Americans, it all adds up to control.

the ice that broke off Antarctica recently will not effect ocean levels in any way. so where is the problem? larger sections broke off in 85 and 92(if i recall the article properly).

the climate might be warming, but to say its entirely mankind's fault is just silly. IMHO. Its been going on like this for millions of years.

D,

There is an interesting take on that in Bjorn Lomborg's newest book if you didn't come across it.

Okay, we all know that DaddyHalbucks is a lost cause and everything but what about you?

Are there any realistic candidates whom the Democrats could have selected that you would view as having the potential to win in the general election? Serious question.

You're kidding right. It's because the US is now a Police State. People don't take to the Streets now because you have a Militarized Police force and you'll get your fucking head bashed in for even protesting.

He was my first choice too.

Now it's a matter of picking the least bad from what's left

Nearly all of the evidence gathered in that forum points to the fact that we're in a state of warming, and have been for quite some time. I know there are some politicians and people that might be painting a more dramatic picture than really exists, but that doesn't mean we should totally disregard the science behind the conclusion in reaction to any feelings of being duped by those dramatists.

As much as you'd like to think I'm a complete idiot and that I believe everything I read without question I'd have to say you are wrong. I too have been studying this topic for almost 20 years inlcuding in university where I majored in geography with courses in atmosphere, climate, geology and statistics.

I don't deny that there has been warming and I never have. I used to believe that warming was caused by man and that it was bad. In light of newer evidence I no longer believe either of those things. My opinions change when the facts change and right now the facts don't add up to man-made catastrophic global warming.

The sites I have provided are not run by armchair bloggers or casual observers of the debate. These are serious people doing serious work and ignoring them in favour of sensationalism and alarmism in the news and from politicians is a huge mistake.

Take this site, that I forgot to add to list, for example:

http://www.climateaudit.org/ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_Audit)

It is run by Stephen McIntyre, one of the guys who debunked the famous hockey stick graph and discovered an error in the GISS data that removed 1998 from being the warmest year on record.

If you want to disregard people like him that's your choice, but then you can't say that you are open to new information.

You sound like a smart guy but now that you've thrown out the "big oil" argument and called evidence that is contrary to what you believe "blatant misinformation" I seriously doubt that you are interested in the "acquisition of knowledge" at all. The "big oil" argument is often used by people suffering from cognitive dissonance who don't want to be bothered with "inconvenient" information that might challenge their view of things.
