0:5000 / 0:10000 etc... RATIO when do you drop a SPONSOR???

Sure it takes time to fine tune your traffic to the relevant sponsor

But when exactly do you call it game and stop sending traffic?

I have seen drastic ratio changes over a few weeks, by a couple thousand even...what is your cut off taking in to account the time and ratio?

Statistically speaking, if everything else stays the same, a program that averages conversions of 1:500 could have a period of 1:11000

Same. If I don't see a sale, I move on.

is that within a certain time-frame?

taking in to account any fine tuning of traffic or just general?

If it doesn't average out over 3 months to 1-1000, Raw I don't bother with it. Most good sponsors average out to 1:800 Unq. I need to see atleast 1 sale for the first 5000 clicks I send if I'm going to consider moving forward with the program.

Exactly, every traffic source is different and everyone's method of promotion is different... Conversion ratios are meaningless when shared between two people.

assuming that I have blogs with relevant keywords for which 90% of traffic comes from google... and every sponsor is selected for that niche,

when would you drop a sponsor?

that would mean I'd wait at least 11000 before dropping?

Very good point, there are many factors to take into consideration.

Yes... but note I said "if everything stays the same".. which is never the case as traffic "quality" can change hourly and daily... So I would say that it would depend on the period... If you're sending 11,000 a day, then I would say you could see that type of thing fairly often.. but if you sent that over a month, then I'd definatley drop it at that point. Keep in mind also that if the site is converting worse than 1:500, then you'd have to send a lot more to just get 1 sale for that bad time frame.

no way near to 11.000 to a sponsor per day

but per month per sponsor ...yes close to 8.000/10.000

again assuming I have mostly 2 sponsors per blog

sure the ratios differ largely from day to day but also depend upon the niche being promoted, right?

thanks a lot for your insight

The traffic is good, but a 9th place listing will bring you nowhere near the conversions a 2-3rd place listing will. By the time a surfer has reached your page he has clicked through to the sponsor X times allready, every time he doesnt sign up there is less chance he will next time.

I think you will find that by bumping the site to the top few searches your conversions will suddenly be very good.

Many top 3 ranks in terms will do 1-60/1-75 average, where as the 9th spot may be lucky to see 1:1000 - 1:1500, and certainly, as bad as 1-5000, but at 1 in 5000 you still need only 1-2 good days to turn it into a respectable conversion rate.

Then it depends on volume. 30 hits a day for 3 months is not the same as sending 9000 over a few days...

so as such my question was meaningless, too many variables: depending on time of day , day of the week, own hosting, hosting of sponsor, time period,
google position, timing of google position etc...ahh

I might consider going back to my old job milking donkeys for sperm

Rofl, nah just gotta remember that there is many many factors. A sponsor that ive consistantly been at 1-500 with for a few years is doing about 1/1500 with the same traffic. Lots of reasons why.

None make me feel any better..heh

I stop pushing a program at 0:3000. My traffic comes from fs submits to LL's, every single link is "non blind" and has the paysite name in the url. If the paysite can't convert it lower then that, then I move onto another one.

Well first of all I never push a sponsor unless I know it will convert. I never get 0:anything. Some sponsors will convert better and some will convert worse but I always get atleast some sales. If you are sending to a sponsor and getting 0 sales then you aren't a good webmaster.

How would you know they convert without trying them out? Because someone else told you they did? Not really a smart way of doing it.

That doesn't answer the question HOW do you know. You can't just tell. While you're at it predict the powerball numbers it's $275 million

analyze your traffic sources and your strategy for "originating" traffic. not everyones ratio is going to be the same that's for sure
