Not saying that is the case here as it's a he-said / she-said type situation, and for all I know Bob agreed to only 5 hours work at $100/hour. But I'm just guessing that wasn't the case

That dosen't excuse the programmer. If he agreed to do something and isn't doing it, it's his fault.

Just by agreeing you took his deposit, and didn't finish 100 % of the work, makes it bad business.

not when finishing the project means doing a bunch of extra shit that was never specified or agreed upon. yes it was wrong to drag it on as long as I did, but I had every intention of finishing the project, I was only going to work on it when I had the extra time because it was a huge loss for me. His attitude is what fucked it up.

Banthis is what I call, a feature creep. His instructions were extremely vague and whenever I'd do something, he'd want to add several layers of complication to it that were unspecified in his project requirements. After he was well over his $1000 with me in time, the project had to take a backseat to other things. Thats what happens when you try to lowball someone. You can whine and cry about bad business all you want, but you are wrong. I'm all about good business and making money.. Not doing favors for 19 year old kids who try to weasel free work out of people.
