Anyone ever paint their cabinets?

How did it go?

EDIT: I forgot to mention the cabinets in question are oak with that thick ass funky wood grain... meh.

People that paint nicer grained hardwoods, (oak, walnut, etc.), ought to be shot, BUT if you insist on doing so, use a sealer on the wood before you paint. It will prevent the wood from drawing in excessive amounts of paint and will make it easier to strip when you regain your senses.

Ours were this ugly ass mid-80s looking wood grain. (Believe me I love natural wood finishes, but this shit was ugly!)

So we did a light sanding, coat of primer, and then a nice cream white paint. We tried both black and brushed nickle hardware to go with the appliances, and both looked awesome... eventually decided on the black.

Highly recommended if you have ugly ass old wood grain cabinets, it totally brightened up and refreshed the kitchen.

The sanding deglossed them , the primer sealed them and the paint finished them. Sounds like you did it right
