Netscape is DEAD! Firefox and Flock carry the flame...
As of this month, Netscape is no longer supported by its parent company, AOL. Netscape was one of the earliest web browsers and once enjoyed an almost 90% market share. IE has a majority market share today but Firefox is now more than a whisper in the dark, much more.
Now that Netscape is gone, it?s time to look to the future. It?s not coming back and the company recommends users switch over to Flock or Firefox. All these browsers are based on the same underlying technology which is why many Firefox plugins worked in Netscape. One thing that I did like about Netscape was the theme and it was natively developed for Windows and Mac. Sure, Firefox is made available to Macs but it?s not exactly optimized for it. Mac users should consider Camino but only if you don?t make use of Firefox add-ons. Nevertheless, Firefox is the next best choice after the demise of Netscape but for those feeling nostalgic there is a way to resurrect the browser. How is this possible? It?s not but you can make Firefox look like Netscape by installing the Simple Green theme. That?s much better. Vista Aero would be my next choice for a Firefox theme but, for some reason, it hides the RSS button in the address bar; the only theme I?ve noticed that does so. Netscape may be gone but it lives on in our hearts (loved and hated alike) and as the Simple Green theme. http://tech.blorge.com/Structure:%20...the-flame-now/ |

Remember how much AOL paid for netscape? Unreal to go from that market share to dead in like 9 years.
