Taxes: Do you write off your paid partner accounts?

Do you write off your paid partner accounts or paid toplinks?

And if so, what do you report them as? IE how do you title this particular expense. Also, any audit stories would be appreciated.

ofcource you should. Like mike said "advertising". You should write off everything you can like; domains, banner spots, submit passes, hosting etc...

I put those down as advertising, and any ppc type of thing down as a traffic purchase.

Can you write off a script purchase for your website? If so, what would be the title for that? Don't want to high-jack this thread, but I guess his question has already been answered anyway.

Great. Thanks. Anymore suggestions as to what I could write off? I could write off the price I pay for internet service, right?

God damn I am surprised basic things business owners don't know. I would highly suggest learning more because some of you are probably losing a shitload of money if you don't know if you can write off something for your business. I would suggest talking to a cpa or something.

You wrote off anything and everything that you use in your business,

hosting
cable
phone
pc
desk
chair
pencil
paper
any scripts
programming work
designer work
printer
partner accounts
if u go to conventions write off hotels/airfare/meals
write off CPA costs/legal fees

just common sense basically
