(VIDEO) Are ethics important in adult? Who would you choose to be for a day?
Adult Insights Ep 12 Video
Are ethics important in adult? Or does working in an industry that isn't publicly embraced by society give you carte blanche for how you create your business? Today's answers are provided by Jim from Almighty Content, Kenny B from IA Cash, Elli from Streamray/Cams.com, Vic from Kick Ass Pictures, Sagi from Adult Friend Finder, Dwreck from Webcam Cash and Scott from Traffic Dude. And special thanks to Yappo Dollars for their support. "Are ethics important?" Jim: "I think there's a major misconception (that the adult industry) is the underbelly of the business world." Kenny: "It's important to treat everybody with respect if you'd like that respect." Elli: "You need to be able to sleep with yourself at night." Vic: "I wouldn't moralize and say everyone needs to where a white hat." Sagi: "There are a lot of things you can get away with... ethics are very important." Dwreck: "There's more ethics in adult than some of my friends in the mainstream business world." Scott: "Ethics always mattered but they matter more now than they ever did." Following that we ask some people who they'd choose to be for a day industry and Vegas Ken gives one of the best, if not most conflicted, answers ever. We also chat with She Devil from Think Pink Online, Rob from Live Bucks, Benoit from Express Pro, Michael (formerly) from Verotel, Dirty D from How I Got Rich, HoneLynn from High Def Riches/Sunny Dollars and Mario from Loaded Cash. Are ethics really important in adult? Are issues like SEO spam or shaving sales really a big deal if nobody knows they're being hurt? Who would you choose to be for ONE day? |

Ethics are especially important in adult (and more prevalent than in mainstream; I agree with Dwreck on that one) because we're already the black-hat evil of online business in the eyes of the outside world...
Whenever I first get people from out there into the business, or meet newbies who may be experienced outside the industry, invariably they come back to me with a great impression and a completely wide-eyed astonishment at how cool the people they've met are, how straight-forward the business is, and how relatively bullshit free and ethical are its practices... Just because we're vilified doesn't mean we're free to be assholes; actually the industry survive because of ethical practices, and couldn't have thrived otherwise. We'd be board-lurking image-sharer geeks still, and there's no way Visa and MC would process our stuff if we didn't have ethics, or if we were as bad as people think we are...

why do you guys ask the same people questions? i personally would like to see some more controversial people. ones that don't care what people think and wouldn't hold back on the answers. PC answers turn me off from webmaster marketing and since thats what it appears you are targeting, i would like to see some people not hold back on the issues, and can the politically correct answers and carefully worded responses.
for 2cents purposes only. i wouldn't want anyone to be anyone but themselves, but seeing people get in avn and xbiz and places that are viewed by the community always has everyone worrying about "what will people think?" fuck it. speak your mind, who cares what they think. we know why this question is asked. just put it out there. |

FACT... those with the least amount of "ethics" make exponentially more money in porn. its as true today as it was in 1997... and those who are usually defended as being "honest" "stand up".. "top notch" guys who are successful, are most often just assholes that have yet to be outed for their crap.
this business primarily attracts naricissistic, authority hating, individualistic, anti-social assholes - trying to dress it up as something different is silly. pretty redundant to ask a question about "ethics" to people who can't give an honest answer because they are trying to promote a business. |

And a good question at that! I can't speak for the rest of the hacks that populate the pages of adult-land, but what shortcomings come from these pieces in the area of lack of diversity are due to a tight filming schedule (all interviews shot at two conferences) and limited to only those in attendance. That's the damn thing about video--one must be where the lens is to get caught. ;)
However, if we are ever in the same place at the same time, consider this your invitation! |
