I didn't read this entire thread, just the original post, and I hear ya.

A few years ago my best friend was pregnant and unsure of what to do. She went to the welfare office and applied for help as she was broke and wanted a quick abortion. Well two visits and a hella bunch of paperwork later, the social worker tells her "Oh, you mean you want to terminate the pregnancy? Well you don't qualify for any assistance with that. However if you WANT to have the baby we can help you."

What kind of shit is that?? I had to lend her the $400 to terminate the pregnancy, but the mother fuckers were gonna give her the whole benefits package if she were to KEEP the baby, yet she wanted an abortion and they would not give her any assistance. UNREAL.

And on this same immigration topic. My 19 year old sister just had a short lived job at a mexican restaurant. You would not believe the stories she told me over maybe the three weeks she worked there. They have almost an entire staff of ILLEGAL immigrants in this restaurant. They have busboys that cross the border and start work there the same day. The restaurant has a special deal with a check cashing company that arrives with a truck out back on pay day and cashes these checks for these illegal immigrants with no question. Most of them have fake paperwork and are paid less than minimum wage.

It came down to her having a bad day, and then one of the illegal immigrant waitresses (who barely spoke english) going off on her and telling her "youre just a white girl and you dont belong here," and well my sister walked out on the job because she could not deal with that and other issues pertaining to the crummy job in general.

But get this: In her getting to know some of the other workers and making acquaintances she asked one of the kitchen guys how he made it into this country. He was open about the fact that he is an illegal immigrant.

College kids down in San Diego, right by the Mexican border, put together little "american" kits and take their mini-vans down to Tijuana. There is a whole gang of them who do this: They charge the Mexicans like $200-300 bucks, dress them up like Americanized hispanic gangster guys and latina girls, and sneak them across in their mini vans dressed like a Mexican-American.

This kitchen worker even said he was rather embarrassed, but they shaved his head and made him wear a hair net, baggy dickies and nike shoes. They will take a Mexican female and help her bleach her hair, put on makeup and wear tight hoochie style clothing like they do in So Cal. They dress their kids in Disney and American clothing brands, and help them sneak over. Another ploy they use is to keep their little kids awake for like 2-3 days straight prior to their crossing, so that when the inspectors try to question the kids, they will be too tired to respond and give any hint to the fact that they're not American.

Can you imagine? I was baffled when she told me this, its pretty funny but almost unreal.
