Read some basic psychology literature and you'll discover that no race is more genetically predisposed to commit crimes than another. This simply means that factors like stereotypes and opportunity contribute to breeding criminals.

Remember after the republicans took congress in '94 and started passing the items in the "contract with america" all the democrats started whining about how the evil right wingers wanted to starve children by taking away their subsidized school lunch? I'm the first to admit that their is A LOT of bullshit with respect to the welfare system. Many lazy welfare motherfuckers get a lot of things free that I have to work my ass off for and it pisses me off. Some of the subsidized housing close to where I live is BETTER than what I live in. It's fuckin wrong. I don't love welfare recipients any more than you do.

Dude who gives a fuck about what psych lit says about anything...the simple fact I was pointing out was that while there may be more whites in the welfare system...it's a disproportionate amount of minorities in the welfare system...as well as the prison system vs their pop #'s in general.

No one stated anything about predisposition to crime...just the facts as they are.

No race is genetically predisposed to commit crimes, but the socialization of the individuals and the environment that they live in may predispose them to a higher likely hood of crime. You can't tell me that there isn't a higher crime rate in the projects than in perfect little suburbia, regardless of color.

I can tell you of my experiences to. When I attended university all of my fellow white buddies and I had computers, laptops, stereos, nice clothes, cars. Our black roommate had a square 'ghetto blaster' with a tapedeck, not even cd, no computer - he had to write his essays in the computer lab across campus. He stayed in while we partied cause he wanted to save his money instead of spending it on alchohol. He was a model student, focussed and he excelled academically. Maybe he forgot to apply for all the grants you're talking about or maybe he was attending the wrong school.

Stereotypes exist because we as invidividuals are bombarded with a near infinite number of sights, sounds, smell and other sensations daily. we do not have the capacity to intellectualize all of them... therefore, our minds uses shortcuts.

When is the last time a black leader said "i believe in you. You can do it, you are better than that"??? They cant... because it threatens their own existence which is built on the foundation of the shortcommings of thier own people rather than the successes of their own people.

I could go all day, here is another one for you.

I applied to physical therapy school about 8 years ago. I graduated at the top of my class. When I applied to Sac State, they wouldn't accept my application until I resubmitted it with the "optional, but recommended" sheet that was included with the packet. It asked for information pertaining to my parents income, my race, ethnicity, etc. etc. So their optional sheet wasn't optional at all. They got around the legality by saying that they needed all components of the original packet back, whether that sheet was filled out or not was up to me. So they said they just wanted it back, filled out or not? Whatever. I was an alternate for 2 years and never got in. I knew two of my classmates that got in, both minorities, with GPA's and work experience that were far less substantial than mine. I guess they just interviewed better?!

I thought about applying to Grambling and Bowling Green, both all black colleges(how is this even legal), but was told that both colleges couldn't exceed their 10% white student population, so all white applicants would only be accepted from within their own state.

I give up. All things happen for a reason. I am making more money in porn than I would have as a PT anyway. It just sucks because I can't tell Grandma what I do. :winkwink:

I'm white...and honestly I thank God I was born white.

Not because I hate blacks, mexicans etc...but because I do know that because of the fact that I am white while my life may be difficult it is less difficult than the average black man's life.

I'm not saying that we have life so much harder, I just really wish true equality was possible. Hiring practices should be based strictly on qualifications. Everybody should have to work equally as hard to obtain those qualifications.

You aren't understanding what I said. It had nothing to do with who my dad hired, it had to do with a legal bid preference. In other words, for those who don't understand, if my dad bid $100,000 to do a job and a minority business owner bid $105,000 to do a job, the biddee had to accept the higher bid because it was placed by a minority business owner. It was against every law of capitalism. That is why I said that I don't believe that the law still exists. I think it was part of the affirmative action laws. But is was still bullshit.
